@mint@freshmeat every time I try to rope some frens into fedi I recommend some instances and it’s always oh eientei is good and this is cool and ryona agency is Good but mint is gonna read your logs to see if you’re a pedophile so don’t search for child porn ironically it really leaves an impression
@neko@mint to a degree it's because "shell" doesn't exist. various bsd `/bin/sh`'s as well as the common debian `dash` all have some extensions you'd probably like to use to not have to parse /etc/passwd for your $HOME and shit. netbsd's /bin/sh understnds ~!!! woah regardless the bashims can get bad
@Zerglingman@nach@gray@adiz@silvermoon82 >gemini is already overrun with trannies and legal names I wouldn't use the word "overrun" to talk about place effectively the size of two classrooms, but sure. More concerned with how they're proud of the fact the protocol seemingly can't produce anything but blog entries... I thought we had rss for that.
@gray@nach@adiz@silvermoon82 it's the markdown transfer protocol!! but it's also super unofficial and now described by authors as "a community developed protocol" which as far as I'm concerned means fuck knows what. bit earlier up the line people will also note the spec is shit I don't hold much faith in it. I also generally don't like the gemtext - that's hardly an issue, but somehow indicative of the place it came from
@nach@gray@adiz@silvermoon82 I do gopher://sdf.org:70/1/users/morus it kinda sucks like many things, it's admirable at what it strives to do (sharing files) and then people stretch it to do weird shit and then it gets bad not sure if gemini is better or worse can we just build our own internet already
