@nixCraft I like Doritos. I miss the old "3D" ones. The real ones, not the new ones that for some reason are ultra-spicy and not the same flavor as the old ones. (Who does a "comeback" and then makes it completely different???)

Firefox's own really isn't very efficient and can really struggle on extremely low end systems pretty badly. (Not just the Raspberry Pi, though that is certainly a good test case.)

Just having some open sources doesn't mean it's true FOSS.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 10-Feb-2024 10:48:21 JST Nazo @arstechnica Huh. Never heard of these being used for car theft.
But yeah, I don't think they can really ban them. Probably someone will just make alternatives with the same hardware under different names and stuff. Not to mention the obvious implication here that those with the means (aka the ones they intended this to stop) probably can just build their own anyway.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 10-Feb-2024 09:11:58 JST Nazo @nixCraft The irony is LLMs (LLMs are not AI!!!!!!) actually do have a place in helping the medical field among others. They'll never be reliable, but they can help enormously in creating methods of processing large data in ways that at least can highlight specific things humans should check. (As long as people don't rely on them so much they miss other things the LLM did not catch...)
Instead, people like him misuse them for ChatGPT telling people to put cyanide in their brownie recipes.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 10-Feb-2024 07:20:28 JST Nazo @arstechnica I feel like they shouldn't even be storing IP addresses for seven years... In fact, once they're that old it's not as if it's necessarily going to yield accurate results to try to backtrack them anymore anyway.
But yeah, despite this, if I were a film pirate I would absolutely not trust Reddit. It's amazing they chose privacy this time, but don't trust them to do it next time. They haven't exactly shown themselves to be pro-user's rights lately...

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 10-Feb-2024 07:07:13 JST Nazo @arstechnica A lot of people have arbitrarily decided that "freedom of speech" means you can literally just say anything. It was never meant to be completely without any limits whatsoever... Hence the whole "shouting 'fire' in a crowded theater" thing.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 10-Feb-2024 06:52:37 JST Nazo @arstechnica Wha- Someone stole a whole freaking radio tower? WHY? It can't be worth the metal reclamation given how much it would cost to steal it and the fact it would be mostly steel, plus if they get caught they're pretty much screwed for life. And it has to be hard to fence that much metal anyway. Are they hoping to setup their own radio or something? But then the signal can be tracked... If it were just vandalism they would simply have destroyed it and left it.
What the heck...

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 09-Feb-2024 09:16:36 JST Nazo @arstechnica I mean who doesn't like lower power bills?
It's like the people who buy fuel guzzlers just to "stick it to the libs." They pay for the gas they use. Or the people who insist they want 3000K incandescent lights because they're too stupid to know 3000K LEDs exist and a certain someone doesn't like how their makeup looks under 5000K LEDs. That waste comes out of their wallets. It's stupid. Efficiency costs less...

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Friday, 09-Feb-2024 06:20:30 JST Nazo @arstechnica Bait and switch? Did console buyers ever actually think there was some sort of guaranteed that games on one even COULD be guaranteed to only exist for that console? There's never any guarantee... And it isn't up to the console manufacturer to decide either. Is anyone actually foolish enough to think anyone can make such a guarantee? This is definitely not bait and switch though. Not by a long shot.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 08-Feb-2024 07:53:54 JST Nazo @arstechnica Feels kind of weird they single out and even name one single individual as being apparently at fault. Almost feels like they wanted a scapegoat. Plus, given the lack of actual testing by the company, we can't really be sure that the contaminants weren't introduced later on in the handling.
Given that it seems to be an additive used in other spices, I wonder if it's literally the same thing as elemental lead and chromium or if it may operate differently as a chemical compound.

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 07-Feb-2024 08:54:03 JST Nazo @nixCraft Honestly this sort of thing really scares me because a lot of people believe whatever they read if it in any way vibes with them and that's exactly the type of stuff that LLMs tend to "hallucinate." Basically I read this as "Microsoft will willingly participate in the ongoing issues with misinformation causing massive societal problems today."

Nazo (nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 04-Feb-2024 05:59:48 JST Nazo @nixCraft Any time a company forces so called "AI" into their products it always makes me think that they aren't doing this because they legitimately think "AI" will improve the product, but because they hope to use it to extract something profitable from their users. Otherwise they'd just make it optional. There is literally not one single reason at all not to make it optional...
