Fucked up on the underside cutting the dowel. Lesson: if you don't have a flush trim saw use something like a card scraper or another saw as a spacer if you don't want to eat into your work (compare results)

Not enough meat on the tenon for a draw bore. I'm just going to glue it and put the dowel in without tension as backup and because I think it will look nice.

A little more work on the non broken side and the joint is starting to look much better. I will be draw boring the center dowel so it will essentially be a permanent clamp

@Alphakilopapa upon closer inspection it seems to be 2 separate cracks. I don't have a syringe handy, but I made a little wedge and used a tiny painters spatula to get the glue down in the joint and then wiggled the wedge to induce a bit of movement so the glue could find more surface inside. I clamped both sides and glue of course squeezed out but I think it'll hold. I may need to pair the tenon cheeks down a bit more but I'll wait until the glue dries to play around with that side more. I have to get started smoking dinner and then I have some other things I was thinking I might be able to do quickly as little gifts for a few others.

:Thinker: the crack goes the whole way across. It hasn't reached the outside but unless I can spread it apart without snapping it and get some glue down into the stretch I think I may need to pick a new piece and redo the mortice.

Other than all my mistakes it doesn't look that bad so far. I'm going to have to glue the breadboard up because it cracked during dry fitting but it's in a place that I think the glue will get a good hold. The trick is going to be getting glue into the crack and not the mortice I think.

@billybon3s I hope so. I still have plenty of scraping to do too. I cut the short cheeks before the long and my saw was not able to reach all the way across.

I chipped a piece out of the other side but that's the bottom so a little less concerned. This is the top and will be right in your face

I got the depth wrong while creating my mortice but I'm only about a quarter inch shallow at this point. I don't work tomorrow so I hope I can get both mortices finished and draw bored. Maybe even move on to creating the handles and making sure the breadboards sit flat so when I add the feet there isn't any wobble. After all that's done I can move on to final shaping. It just might be done by Christmas after all.
