    @BowsacNoodle Almost all of my mistakes are made around glue ups, even when I dry fit everything 5 times beforehand lol.

    I tried keeping all the grain going the same way but maple is kind of hard to see by eye and I didn't do the smart thing and label the direction after the first pass.

    Note: when laminating boards pay attention to grain direction if you give a shit about tear out. I have one or 2 of my boards oriented in a way that made planing difficult. I'm going to go back in with a card scraper tomorrow and try and clean it up a bit more.

    Won't be having enough time to make this cutting board into an end grain so I'm adding breadboards to the ends both for the aesthetic and to help keep it flat over time. I may leave the breadboards proud on the bottom and put the rubber feet on them instead of the laminated boards. I am going to draw bore the center of each breadboard to keep them stiff using the cherry as dowels.

    Tomorrow I have to cut the glued board into strips which will hopefully arrange neatly into a checker board end grain cutting board. I glued 2 cherry for each one maple because I don't have and 8/4 cherry

    Someone said if you waited about 20 minutes and used a scraper the squeeze out was easier to remove, but I ended up getting side tracked for over an hour and now there is a lot of glue to remove tomorrow when I can take the clamps off. Should have just wiped it off with a rag while it was wet. I started to and then decided to try this way.

    @kekkerel yeah I don't get it. I mean no one wants to lose a finger but a saw that tells you it won't hurt you seems like a recipe for more careless saw operation anyway, and at that price I expect some serious power and accuracy. The saw stop mechanism is impedance based iirc and I believe it effectively breaks the saw to stop it faster than it could with a brake so if it goes off your saw is offline until you can get it fixed.
