@PurpCat If the shooting was real and organic, and the CulturalPhilistine Youtube account was him, then that goes to show how being obsessed with philosophy and taking it literally can have devastating consequences.

xianc78@gameliberty.club's status on Wednesday, 25-Sep-2024 05:43:56 JST xianc78 @djsumdog @deprecated_ii Didn't Van Allen end up on NASA's payroll at some point? You could make the case that he was forced to say that the Van Allen belts were safe. Either way, the thing about the Van Allen belts are that they're just that: belts. You could have a ship do a polar orbit and fly over the belts, but I don't think any of the Apollo missions (allegedly) did that.
But even discounting that, you do have to deal with solar flares on the moon, which do happen frequently, and NOAA records showed that there were at least 1400 solar flares during the 9 moon flights. The only way I think anyone could've done a moon mission was if they immediately went into a closed vehicle only to get out when they are inside a lunar cave.

Sure, some will complain, but they can suck it up. So if you want to use anything other than Discord for your project, you can.

>how so many FOSS projects are using Discord
Off the top of my head:
* OBS Studio
* Hyprland
* MonoGame
* SFML (though they also have a forum and IRC)
* Godot Engine (also has a forum)
* FreeSO (open-source re-implementation of The Sims Online)There are plenty more. Though mostly, they are projects that just so happen to be open-source and the community doesn't really care about the FOSS movement.

It was mostly parents who called out on their businesses practices, but it was mostly "why does my kid need a Super Nintendo he already has an NES."

Looking back on it, Sega was a lot less greedy and power hungry (they even embraced cheat devices and rental stores to spite Nintendo), but I don't think being pro-consumer was valued much back then.

xianc78@gameliberty.club's status on Tuesday, 24-Sep-2024 10:01:56 JST xianc78 So it looks like the UN Pact of the Future was signed and barely anyone noticed. The only good news is that at least one country (Argentina) refused to sign. I feel like the US is going to be on board with the PoFT no matter what. My only hope is that state and local governments nullify any or all UN mandates just like what Louisiana did back in April.

xianc78@gameliberty.club's status on Tuesday, 24-Sep-2024 00:39:24 JST xianc78 @beardalaxy When you have a bunch of if-statements like this, it's probably better to have an array or dictionary of function pointers because the CPU can just go to the address of the first value of the array + the offset and then call the function based on the address of the function in the table. On the other hand, if-statements require the CPU to repeatedly calculate conditions which is much less efficient.

xianc78@gameliberty.club's status on Monday, 23-Sep-2024 11:41:34 JST xianc78 So I found out there was a decompilation project for Harvest Moon 64 and whoever programmed the original game loved nested if/switch statements because there is a ton. Granted, the game is programmed in C, and I'm used to OOP, but I don't understand why they couldn't just use data tables and function pointers. It's almost as if YandereDev wrote this.
