@coolboymew Seems perfect for the use case. You could get a dedicated PC and use this box for streaming movies , music , anime, and you could use it like a steamlink on the tv. If you want to do pc gaming on your tv but you got a Deck so that feature may not be as necessary.
I really wanted it so I could set up having a TV in my bedroom again to watch while I exercise again.
LENOVO M75n Nano MICRO TINY PC Desktop Ryzen 3 PRO 3300U 8GB with 128GB of storage.
Not the most powerful CPU and not a lot of ram but it's perfect for what I want to do with it. I planned on using it as a kodi box to stream movies / tv off my file share and setup as an iptv box with a media remote for my bedroom.
@coolboymew@lethe@lebronjames75 If I was gonna watch anime I'd rather watch fansubs than anything crunchyroll shits out. I've heard nothing but bad news about that company.
@coolboymew@Frondeur@Pawlicker@camedei456 Yeah I wish this game did emulate better Give it a couple more years and newer generations of cpus and the game should run pretty well by then.
@Frondeur@Pawlicker@camedei456@coolboymew I don't play many of them but I had fun with the older gran turismo games and Project Gotham Racing 3 was dcent. I'm not overly invested in racing games though I feel the newer racing sims are too invested for my enjoyment. I don't care much for the newer mario kart games either I stopped at Mario Kart DS. Double Dash and MK64 were lots of fun back in the day.
I know mario kart is not a racing sim and is an arcade style game but so isn't the project gotham racing games. I tried Forza Motorsport 2 I got in a bundle with Marvel Ultimate Alliance from a friend for free and I didn't really care for it.
I had a 60GB PS3 at one point too and wasn't a huge fan of the console either. 3D Dot Game Heroes was kinda fun but I'm not a big fan of the playstation controller. The Dual Shock was nice for 1998 because no other controllers for consoles had dual analog at the time but Sony hasn't done anything to re-invent or really improve the design an a quarter of a century. I mean you could argue the touchpad and feedback triggers are innovations but meh. I don't really care for shooters on gamepad anymore and would rather play those with a KB/M. I do like controllers for platformers , action , shmpus , and racing games though.
@camedei456@coolboymew@Pawlicker Xbox from 2006 to 2009 was really good but back then they had a who was part of the Dreamcast marketing team who really understood what hardcore gamers wanted and appealed to. Microsoft's downfall with the xbox line up started with the Kinect meme because they saw how much money Nintendo got form their wagglin' console and they wanted a piece of the pie. Unfortunately Microsoft didn't understand the only reason the Wii sold so well was because of it's relatively cheap price point and it came bundled with Wii Sports that had such a low barrier for entry of play even non-gamers were playing it.
Shit my Dad who hasn't gamed since the original NES went out and bought a Wii just because he played Wii Sports at someone's house and liked the "bowling game" enough that he wanted one for himself.
Oddly enough their most successful console was their console I liked the least. I genuinely disliked the waggling controls and I felt Nintendo alienated the core gamer that generation hard. The console was awesome if you soft modded it but vanilla Wii kinda sucked and felt like a huge departure from the GameCube which I really liked.
I'm personally not a fan of Kernel AC's for the fact it kills the ability for games to work on Linux and honestly I want to migrate away from Windows because I really don't like the future of the Operating System by seeing the shitshow that was Windows 11 home edition with updating your pc at will.
@r000t@coolboymew@mangeurdenuage One of the reasons why I won't play Valorant or use Epic gamestore. I don't need Chinese spyware on my pc. Though I kind of wish Gabe Newell would stop being a fat Jew and fix the non existent VAC that ruined Team Fortress 2 and Counter Strike... Well they didn't even need VAC to ruin Counter Strike they ruined that on their own by removing a perfectly fine game Global Offensive and replacing it with a unfinished game CS2 because they wanted the improved lighting for the casual whales who do nothing but spend tens of thousands of dollars on doppler knives. a.k.a shiny gambling chips for unregulated 3rd party sites.
I know people are also like you could play single player games. But sadly even the neon haired trolls and Sweet Baby Inc. had to ruin that with their activisim agendas shoehorned into almost every mainstream game in the AAA space. The 2023 Game Awards showed that debauchery on full display.
@r000t@coolboymew@mangeurdenuage I kind of wish they'd focus more of the efforts on dealing with people who cheat in games more than banning physical media in general. Online gaming in 2024 is ass because of how many people cheat either it be on PC with software or on consoles with XIM , strikepacks , or cronus zen with scripts.
Though I don't blame the lack of anti-cheat more so than people just being trolls / shitheads. But playing dirty is super prevelent among the zoomers and chinese.
Yeah it's all locked to the cloud. Besides the best way to play Viva Piñata on PC in 2024 is to use a pirated version with the SafeDisc and GFWL DRM stripped and a modded .exe that can run in 1440p or 4k resolution. The retail version of the GFWL version caps at 1080p
