@thatguyoverthere@TinyHouse4Life TBH it even happens to me. Even when no alcohol is involved 😅 I think I have a good memory and I remember past events in tiny detail, but sometimes they get mixed up with dreams, like you have a conversation with someone and have a very vivid deja vu: you already had that conversation everything flows exactly as you expect and you ask the person you're talking to if you had that conversation already — but no, they have no recollection of it, must've been a dream
@TinyHouse4Life@thatguyoverthere Not revealing the concept of reincarnation to a child is low. But understandable if someone did it to you in your childhood 🤣
@thatguyoverthere Same here. I do agree that if we want to have sustainable economy we have to strongly tone down on consumption, economy can't be based on mass-producing electronics that goes into garbage bin in 2-3 years (on computers running cryptographic hash function 24/7 either). But some of the problems raised are questionable to say the least, e.g. I don't get the beef problem. I'm not against people not eating meat when it's their choice.
@thatguyoverthere Doesn't work for me, I do feel myself better when I'm on carnivore diet. I'm also not against looking for new sources of protein, but I still think that the whole problem is way overblown. The whole renting instead of owning does work when it really allows people to save, but it shouldn't be imposed on everyone — and it feels especially hypocritical when people who tell us that are brought in to their regular COP by dozens of private jets 🤷
@thatguyoverthere It also seldomly gets below -30°C in winter, I remember when I was a schoolkid it even got below -40°C — this was a huge problem as it damaged hot water pipes. Now it rarely gets below -30°C during winter, for a week maybe, or less. Global warming or not, things are definitely changing.
@thatguyoverthere There are very few mosquitoes outside Moscow nowadays. They used to be a problem even in the city, there were no easily installable anti-mosquito nets, but lighter curtains were a must and vaporizers were nice to have. Outside of the city they still do come when you're cooking something in the kitchen late in the evening, but very few of them, still attracted by moist, heat and light, but you barely notice them at other times.
I knew it would eventually come to this. I'm out of fruit flavoured teas and I'm still two days away from being able to replenish my supplies at a discount. However I still have some pu'er tea left so I can mix it with something fruity, problem being — the most "fruity"-flavoured thing I have is lemongrass. So be it, behold the most cursed tea mix ever created! I'm not wondering is it any good, I'm wondering how good it is! Still have to wait for it to brew…
@amerika Well, I don't think it's going to be everyone's favourite at a party, but it's interesting. Here that part of flavour that sets Pu'er apart from just strong black tea amplifies the flavour in lemongrass that is hardly distinguishable when it's lemongrass alone. It's not bad either, but people usually go for something traditionally fruity with Pu'er — I often use tangerine or orange peel myself. I've definitely drank weirder combinations, like tea with spices!
@amerika It is! I do like messing with herbs and spices, I think everyone who enjoys cooking does. You're right, working together is the key, to be honest, I was tempted adding basil to the yesterday's mix, I do enjoy adding it to tea as of recent, it's an essential cooking ingredient for things like tomato and cheese salad and even strawberry lemonade, but adding it to tea is new to me. In the end I decided against it — once you add too many ingredients it's easy to mess up.
@thatguyoverthere I think it's theoretically possible to cover it with a dome to prevent oxygen intake so the fires die out, but you can't build one in place because of high temperatures. The material also has to be sturdy enough so it doesn't melt, it might be so costly that no one cares enough to do it. @kravietz
@thatguyoverthere Burning coal is pretty bad too, but gas looks absolutely scary to me. I might be making things up, but imagine there is a bigger deposit beneath it and that it eventually burns through and caves in. The combustion might be catastrophic. Deepwater Horizon was bad enough, but here there is no pipe to sever, this thing is 60 meter in diameter. @kravietz
@thatguyoverthere I agree, this would seriously fuck things up, but same is true for every other major dormant volcano suddenly awakening. Are odds really high? When I read about it, it didn't seem likely to me, more like a scary story type of thing. TBH this looks way scarier as it's closer to me 😅 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darvaza_gas_crater Soviet engineers came up with a bright idea of setting that thing on fire and it's been burning for decades ever since. Like 24/7, no one managed to extinguish it. @kravietz
@thatguyoverthere Well, this hold for every other conspiracy. If NWO decides to get rid of us, we're doomed too. And I might even believe that the concern is genuine if it didn't come out of the mouth of this guy. You might not believe me, but a lot of FSB officers, both ex and acting, are also into esoteric stuff. I know from a friend, who was into these circles. So if you know tarot and all that and are acquainted with the right people, you might not need your office job anymore. @kravietz
@kravietz Most of them are mentally unwell, in a medical sense. I bet Putin shares similar beliefs, he just keeps his mouth shut. What he says in public is reviewed by competent people so very little of it slips through, but who knows what he has told Macron on the phone. This one — on the contrary, speaks out quite often and when he does, it's something like that. If he was into sci-fi, not those spy novels, I think we could hear something even more exquisite from him.
@thatguyoverthere 100%👍 Cloud storage in general is perfect for that. I have half a terabyte of it at Proton with my plan. I'm reluctant to use it for anything serious, but for funny pics — why not?
@gabrielesvelto Sure, I agree with you! Although I do receive follow request that look automated from people I have never interacted with, but the amount is negligible compared to centralized social media. I was just joking and I'm pretty sure that people I was referring to with meta-ideas how everyone here is based on a language model are joking too.
@gabrielesvelto You a just not paranoid enough, I encounter post questioning the realness of people here and reality in general almost weekly in my timeline 😂
@fell Nowadays it's a matter of personal preferences and formatting tools got so good that I rarely see them misaligning things on reformatting, it's a matter of having conventions when you are working on a project collaboratively though so your formatter/linter running amok won't litter the repository with these things on every commit and ruin it for everyone else.
@fell Results came out a bit surprising to me. I've always thought that everyone hates tabs and wants to transform them to amount of spaces of their liking. For Python four spaces even made it into PEP-8 style guide. But I hate spaces. I think we should get rid of space… And time 🤪
NoneJust in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
