I explain that when someone sleeps they aren't dead and that they can wake up. It just doesn't seem to stick.
He also has a hard time distinguishing between dreams and waking memories. Maybe once we can work that out explaining sleep will be a little easier. -

Sleep = short period of time
Death = sleep forever

He's young, but being active around here he has seen baby birds born (and he's seen them not hatch), he had a rabbit die, we've lost a few birds to predators, and I think even more significantly he had an aunt die (not sure how close he actually was to her - he's usually here but a person you know no longer being around forever is a lot to take in). As for the dreams, he has pretty vivid dreams, but they are clearly just dreams. The most memorable one was a time when he thought he climbed a tree and fell but landed at his other grandparents house. He really thought it was real. Now he seems like he might understand that dreams are something that happens when you sleep, but I think he may still believe it is him doing things. -

🤔 This makes me think back to my childhood. I have always had preminition dreams about peoples deaths. I wonder if he has this gift/burden and why he may be struggling. -

But understandable if someone did it to you in your childhood 🤣 -

I think I have a good memory and I remember past events in tiny detail, but sometimes they get mixed up with dreams, like you have a conversation with someone and have a very vivid deja vu: you already had that conversation everything flows exactly as you expect and you ask the person you're talking to if you had that conversation already — but no, they have no recollection of it, must've been a dreamDisinformation Purveyor :verified_think: likes this. -
