@0@not_benis@splitshockvirus ALL stores ARE a ripoff. That's literally how retail works. If they weren't, they would not exist. Just two days ago I listened to my wife ranting about the price of yarn in stores, which she can order from a shady online place for half the price.
The things I appreciate the most about Glock is simplicity and safety.
Several common designs have a striker block that is located at the tail. If striker were to break, its spring will easily slam the remaining section in the primer. But on Glock, the safety is out in front, ahead of the place where the spring applies force on the striker.
Ian McCollum posted a video on SVT-40, talking about its seminal gas system, among other things, but he neglected to mention one of its most unusual features: the barrel has no gas port. The front part, which includes the gas diverter and the set for regulator, front sight tower, and the muzzle brake, is made in one piece, and attaches to the actual barrel as a muzzle device. Heck I think it's not rifled.
The gas port phobia around the 1930s was a real thing, and that is why early Garands and G.41 had gas traps. But in case of SVT-40, there's no trap as we recognize it, only a barrel extension.
@Pinochet_Pepe The standard move is to visit some ranges and rent several guns.
Keep in mind that a small .380 can have a worse recoil than a modern 9mm, even an ultracompact. The worst recoiling handgun that I ever shot was the NAA Guardian in .380. It was just painful. I would easily take any of the P365 of Shield Plus over it. But a Browning 1911-380 is very soft shooting, like no 9mm can.
A HD pistol needs a rail for a light. I got by with a TLR-6 on a G42 for years, but that was suboptimal.
@Rocc Back in WW2, babushkas knitted mittens with a separate index finger and sent it to the front in care packages. Mosin and PPSh never had any mitten flaps!
@mu@Rocc My main rifle is SU-16 and my daughter's rifle is an AR on KP-15 receiver, neither of which has a mitten flap. Of course, we live in a place where it rarely snows, so we get by with gloves.
@Royper@coolboymew The P22 is not a large gun either. But Anya 100% deserves a better gun than that Umarex refuse. Note also that the 21A has a tip-up barrel feature, allowing Anya to load the gun without charging the slide.
