He wanted to find the most natural pointing form for the default, inexperienced, blank slate human.
Add in the european tradition of highly raked grip angles - the luger was prized by literally everyone who ever beheld one - and it makes sense why it's so raked. Like any big split it's controversial because people accustomed to one set of muscle memory whine that they have to develop a new one for the second.

Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 06-Jul-2024 02:21:33 JST Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks @nugger @synapsid I think gun nerds have a real problem overblowing minor concerns because guns at their core are such a simple thing. Compared to more complex hobby machines, they're boring, so guys have to obsess over the same 3 details when they don't really matter that much in the grand scheme of things.
The car fags don't obsess over shifter/wheel shapes this much. Maybe it's just the "machines as appliances" versus "machines as hobbies" aspect that bugs me. Everyone thinks they need a gunslinger's pistol, but if we're honest with ourselves we're better suited for a conscript pistol.
I understand having a preference but I'm not sticking my nose up at a glock for its european accent when it brings the track record. I can't think of a failure in all my range time watching people shoot their duty guns, and that ain't something I can say for the hk fags. Maybe I just don't care enough, or I've gotten over the supposed reflex of drawing a g19 and growled because I have it tilted up 20º over the horizon
But you never hear anyone complain after shooting a luger, I tell yeh huwhat

IDK I don't get how anyone cares so much about it, I like their funky character differences much more than they could bother me. If anything glock's greatest sin was setting the standard pistol template for 150 years to come. Even the nerdy fave companies look and feel more like glocks than they do their original steel framed parents. Favela styling writ large
People want different until kel tec offers a lightweight pocket pistol you gotta feed with stripper clips, then.....ew why isn't it a polymer 9 w/ glock mags?

The Magpul is basic bitch but it is also much much easier to install compared to any other grip like BCM.

I kept teasing him about it for a long time afterward, he spent all that money and he's STILL missing.
I really loved magpul's biz back in the day, at least. I suspect they literally lost all the doers and thinkers 10 years ago, because they're basically an apparel company now.

Maybe it's just my youth talking but it was awesome seeing them put out stuff that you wanted that nobody made. A kid saving up for some fancy ambi rifle saw the BAD lever and had his whole game rearranged. Years of halfhanding a VG finally disappeared over night when they FINALLY split the difference and put out an AFG.
There isn't anything like that magic today, where people were genuinely excited for new gun stuff. Magpul got bigger and overnight went from cool accessories to announcing sunglasses and iphone cases, never to come back

It was cool, just not "me". It was slick and all but not quite the race gun people pretended, and having funky steel mags wasn't my fave. I think I had a 226 around that time too, which I also sold off. I just didn't fall in love with them enough to want to carry them, and I didn't shoot any better than boring striker fire tupperware. Fun to look at though.
I'm pretty neurotic about fighting guns, I don't like owning anything unless I have enough mags to last me the rest of my life. Grew up listening to guys freak out over the AWB so now I feel angsty looking at the safe and seeing 2 mags for some boutique platform. It's why I still haven't bought my buddy's nice old Stars and SW59s.

The things I appreciate the most about Glock is simplicity and safety.
Several common designs have a striker block that is located at the tail. If striker were to break, its spring will easily slam the remaining section in the primer. But on Glock, the safety is out in front, ahead of the place where the spring applies force on the striker.Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks likes this.
