    I think European farmers vaccinate their chickens against salmonella and American farmers don't. Also yes, the eggs are not washed as they are in the US, so you occasionally see a little bit of shit and/or feather stuck to one. Salmonella outbreaks are unheard of. Most eggs are not refrigerated at the store, some are.

    While I really appreciate the complement, I don't think my shitposting will ever do as much damage to epistemological authoritarianism as media "fact checkers" insisting that everyone has to believe things which are then universally discredited a year or two later.

    Back in 2020 when I was like "ya know, what are the chances that 25 feet from a top level bioweapons lab there's a pandemic and it's a BAT".

    And there were people on here who were like "I Don't Know What You're Insinuating But This Sounds Like Dangerous Misinformation".

    Back then they were just obnoxious, but now that the smoke cleared a bit, I can see these are some dumb motherfuckers.

    At this point there is ~no chance they will use the fog of war to attack Taiwan, instead what they will do is loudly and publicly make every attempt to broker a peace deal.

    If neither Ukraine + The West, nor Russia are willing to come to the table, they will (in the most stoic and respectful way possible) announce that they are treating everyone in this matter as equally culpable.

    Then they will help Russia.

    Direct solar distillation might be interesting, save the cost of going from sun to electricity and then back to heat.

    Looks like the one in the picture is 750 watts, so running 24/7 that should pull 18Kwh/day - Figure $1.80 to $3.60 per day depending on your local power price.

    1. Same thing as Swiss banks in the 20th century. They're not really beneficial to any *country*, but the oligarchs of that country like to use them personally - so any attempt to ban them entirely will encounter significant headwind.

    I don't think that many people are leaving to the US right now. Byzantine immigration rules, food is trash, healthcare is a protected industry no one can afford. There are just so many other countries which are a better deal. IMO the rule is just a political "use the power of the state to make The Other Guys lives miserable" thing. Quiet civil war.

    It strikes me that it's entirely possible that the US is in fact incapable of directly engaging Russia in war.

    Russia, weak as it is militarily, is famous for its large scale spy ops - a capability which carries over from the USSR era. If they're not stupid then they would be making great use of Obama / Biden open border policy to place as many agents into the US as possible.

    It is entirely possible that WW3 will not be a war of nuclear mushroom clouds but rather of power outages, fires, and chemical spills, as Russia uses their saboteurs to inflict ruinous amounts of pain on the US with next to zero cost.
