Upgrading Debian 9 to 10 is a bit challenging for new developers. Why? Both Debian 9 and 10 are EOLโd, ๐ So all those repo URLs, including official information and independent posts, are broken. However, there is a tricky way to do it. I think I will write a tutorial or create a quick video about upgrading the Debian end-of-life from 9 to 10 and then 10 to 11. You can't jump from 9 to 11/12. Or just install fresh versions of Debian 12 and restore your data ๐ค
Good. Senate leaders ask FTC to investigate AI content summaries as anti-competitive: The latest AI features found in Meta, Perplexity, Apple, Google and others are hitting artists, creators, news site and publishers while theyโre down. @fredbrooker Both Linux and macOS achieve faster boot times by starting all services in the background. Some serious engineering work goes into it, for sure. I believe there is some work done recently for FreeBSD 14, too.
How does Linux move from an awake machine to a hibernating one? How does it then manage to restore all state? These questions led me to read way too much C in trying to figure out how this particular hardware/software boundary is navigated. Now that Mozilla Firefox is adding AI directly to its browser, are there any browsers without AI or LLM? I don't want anything to do with the current LLM and AI, which I strongly believe stealing from artists, and all AI companies are freeloaders. It is a bit disappointing to see open-source software adopting something like this. https://blog.mozilla.org/en/products/firefox/firefox-news/ai-services-on-firefox/
