Now that Mozilla Firefox is adding AI directly to its browser, are there any browsers without AI or LLM? I don't want anything to do with the current LLM and AI, which I strongly believe stealing from artists, and all AI companies are freeloaders. It is a bit disappointing to see open-source software adopting something like this. https://blog.mozilla.org/en/products/firefox/firefox-news/ai-services-on-firefox/
@nixCraft you can opt out and it is opt-in so by default there isn't AI Whilst not perfect, it's the best I've seen so far from the mainstream major browsers. I understand your stance on AI but honestly if you want to be away from AI completely, well your only option is to leave the internet now whilst you can
@nixCraft@Waterfox is based on #firefox, but has removed all of the telemetry and advertsising stuff, and integrated adblocking into it's core. They have not announced anything to do with AI. Their roadmap seems more geared toward actual useful features.
There is the all new Zen Web Browser which is based on Firefox. I’ve used it myself for a couple of days and it’s really good! The team that works on that browser is always looking to give users a smooth, privacy respecting web browser, and I doubt they will ever put AI into that browser. Give it a try and see if you’ll like it! https://zen-browser.app/
@nixCraft I've used Firefox exclusively for almost 25 years and they just lost me. They're jumping on the AI bandwagon even though there's plenty of evidence that it's ecologically unsound, not profitable, full of disinformation, and rapaciously stealing intellectual property. #Mozilla used to be a great company. There are uses for AI, but the internet shouldn't be one of them. Please let us know if you find a better alternative!
