The Germans tried this with "trade credits" before WW2, and the Japanese "co-prosperity sphere" was also an attempt to build a rival trading empire.

@bigheadtales @thatguyoverthere @jeffcliff Up until recently the USA was able to export its excess money and impose the inflation on others. This apparently no longer works, and every new dollar created now causes inflation.

@thatguyoverthere @yakkoj For black and white, laser printers are undoubtedly better. I have one that is used a few times a year, and it always works.

For color, laser printers do not look as good as inkjets, but I have never found a way to use inkjets occasionally and have them work.

We do need to be able to print. I don't trust computers all that much, and a printout is the final backup, as well as letting you show something to someone else.

@sj_zero Another way to look at it is money is like water and credit is like alcohol. You need water to live. Drinking alcohol will make you feel good, but you need water to make up for it later. And if you are dying of thirst, alcohol might make you feel better for a minute but it will make you worse off long term.

All of the above also applies to stuffing credit down the throat of an economy that desperately needs money.

This was basically Trump's fault - he should have had a working group collecting reports of successful treatments, doing quick and dirty trials, and using what worked. Instead he let the medical industry take over and use what PAID - vents and remdesivir, even though those things were more likely to kill you than help you.

@chuso Yes that sounds like an MITM, what is the root cert for that? Are you sure it is not security or adblocking software on your own machine? Some security software generates certs on the fly to MITM, with its own root cert on your machine. They should not be able to get arbitrary certs like that, and if they can do that with a public root cert, someone messed up.

@chuso Is there any way to blacklist that cert in a browser? If not then TLS is quite useless.

@aydin There needs to be one or a few standard ARM PC and server architectures. Right now you need a different build for everything. I.e. there is a Chinese company Orange Pi that sells some neat hardware but the builds are not up to date.

@aydin Well I do not have to download a different Ubuntu for AMD versus Intel. But every ARM platform has a unique kernel build, and often those are not up to date.
