@hermit Finkelstein is treating the edge I think, whether his arguments have validity to them or not Holocaust deniers twist him beyond recognizition in support of their claims anyway. He also has the same brainworm Chomsky has where he's so blatantly anti-USA that he allows it to compromise his morality by siding with anyone who opposes them even if by all accounts the opposing party in question is objectively worse by orders of magnitude.
-
@hermit He's Jewish, so he doesn't stoop *that* far. Of course, he still has very euphoric opinions on it and IIRC has buddied up with Finkelstein in the past over the issue.
-
@hermit Bosnian Genocide when it was ongoing and to the present, Cambodian genocide when it was ongoing, (redacted due to legal reasons), probably some others I'm forgetting
-
@hermit Certainly a lot better than platforming "principled" "leftist" (read: genocide denier) Noam Chomsky, I'll say that much.
-
@hermit Yeah pre-Crimea RT was absolutely bugfuck insane, then they just started parroting the party line of the culture wars and the "alt right" (with an occasional nod to dissenting figures like Slavoj Zizek) becoming cringe and utterly replaceable in the process.
-
@hermit RT was absolutely insane back then tbh, can't think of another state media mouthpiece that not only knew who Richard Stallman was but gave him a spotlight at prime hours to promote his ideology to the media watching public
-
@hermit Yeah, at least one of the pundits then presenting on RT did.
-
@hermit (mind you, this was when RT was starting to air their "Cyber Christ" propaganda w.r.t. Bitcoin)
-
@hermit If Vitalik kept playing WoW, he wouldn't have found crypto when he did and consequently ETH wouldn't be a thing.
-
@hermit Yeah, they nerfed the damage on Warlocks Time Siphon which led to Vitalik Buterin discovering cryptocurrency
-
@hermit Between that and being responsible for the creation of Ethereum, I'm not sure Activision will ever recover.
-
@hermit @MischievousTomato @blaaablaaaa @BenChampagne @n3f_X @riserise Yeah I can't imagine my position is a very popular one lol
-
@hermit @MischievousTomato @blaaablaaaa @BenChampagne @n3f_X @riserise
"So you're essentially arguing (...)" Yes, you're reading that correctly. More specifically, I'm arguing that the choice exists in theory but that it's rationally untenable to sustain forever because no one can hold on to death when they are created in the image of God.
"What's the difference?" Guilt.
-
@hermit @MischievousTomato @blaaablaaaa @BenChampagne @n3f_X @riserise Whatever allegories and warnings may exist in scripture, people who turn away do so for as long as they are rationally able and then when such a position is no longer able to sustain itself they claw their way back. There is eternal punishment in a sense because they don't share the exact same communion as those of the blessed, but they are made in God's image and are connected to him all the same. Christ died for the sins of all, there can be no ambiguity about that.
-
@hermit @MischievousTomato @blaaablaaaa @BenChampagne @n3f_X @riserise I can't speak to a certainty about it not existing, but it not holding any real and ultimate power over the world and the souls contained therein, yes, absolutely I would argue that.
-
@hermit @MischievousTomato @blaaablaaaa @BenChampagne @n3f_X @riserise The salvific work was accomplished on the cross, the three days were solely the prerogative of defeating and despoiling hell once and for all. (not to pry too much but what you posted upthread is an interpretation that genuinely irks me)

@Moon @PhenomX6 VTuber people put furries to shame in terms of sheer lunacy behind the scenes. Piss scientist alone could attest to that.
-
@Moon @PhenomX6 Nobody on the fucking planet who watches vtubers is normal. There's a reason I brought up the GamerGate comparison. All the people who got really invested in it on both sides were actual, unironic lunatics.
-
@PhenomX6 @Moon Maybe.
-
@PhenomX6 @Moon What was GamerGate if not total retard war?
