I wish people would stop using the number 9 so damn much.
Why is is all over the place lately?

@Escoffier @ArdainianRight @Witch_Hunter_Siegfired For what it's worth even in the lefty denominations, a lot of their parishioners are still Christians.
How it tends to go is, the seminaries go left first, train a generation of lefties who perform a hostile takeover of the old institutions that have all the money, all the schools, all the hospitals, and then the Conservatives either have to reform into their own poor irrelevant groups with no influence, or they stay in these big lefty denominations and have to accept the pro gay constitutions with hopes that they can reform it back to more conservative values later.

@Escoffier @ArdainianRight @Witch_Hunter_Siegfired It makes more sense to count traditions than Christian denominations. That number is inflated because it counts different synods with different genealogical roots, even if they have no major disagreements. It also doesn't account for things like Methodism which never formally departed, they just stopped communicating with the mainline because England wouldn't send bishops after the war.
The number of Christian traditions with more than, say, 10K members, is probably less than a dozen. Certainly less than 20, and at least 75% of those recite at least one of the 3 ecumenical creeds every week. The majority of the ones that don't would still affirm it, they just don't want to take away its meaning by reciting it mindlessly.
There isn't as much division in Christianity as people like to say.

@Escoffier @ArdainianRight @Witch_Hunter_Siegfired Yeah I could more or less break it down if you're curious. I'd identify 4 different major schools of Protestantism in the US, not counting the gay ones ofc.

@ArdainianRight @Witch_Hunter_Siegfired The religion reflects the people, of course. If Anglo Saxons all converted to religious Judaism for some reason (and we reversed current demographic trends in our nations) you'd still have relatively good people. It would take on a Germanic character over time, just like Christianity did.
Although Christianity is very neurotic too, evidenced by the fact that the entire theological complex disintegrated the second epistemology was invented and we realized flaccid designators existed in language. Blood was spilled over how many essences Jesus had and to this day no one can even tell you what an "essence" is, besides a tentative mental construct. I think you might be blind to this because it's your tribe so you justify it by instinct. Confirmation bias is definitely at play here.

@ArdainianRight It depends which era and school of Catholicism you're looking at and it's also a big problem in Islam (though less there than anywhere else tbh), and in most schools of Buddhism, and ESPECIALLY in native Chinese religion, where you can't separate it from the bureaucracy of the empire itself.
It's literally every right hand path type religion, and all of them, even in decline, or more relevant than religious Judaism, which is barely practiced anymore. Most Jews are Reformed Jews, where none of that is enforced and is barely even learned.

@Witch_Hunter_Siegfired @ArdainianRight An even more practical issue is that the people who actually understand Orthodox Jewish theology in the Anglosphere are probably in the double digits.
Most of it isn't translated. Of what has been translated, much of it is translated badly, or incompletely.
Of what is translated completely, and well, and is still available, in print or archived online, most still don't know how to read it because it's written by the most schizo spergs who were ever born. It makes reading medieval alchemy seem simple at times.
All its opponents can manage is to quote mine insane immoral teachings of some niche Rabbi, which are bad, but they're the equivalent of Ethiopian Church Fathers who taught you had to talk to birds and publicly kill yourself to get to Heaven. It's got nothing to do with anything.

@ArdainianRight The doctrines of orthodox Judaism are not particularly remarkable. It's mostly just Neoplatonism. The schizo stuff you see made into memes online are present in every other tradition too.
If the legalism is the problem, it is a genuine aspect of Catholicism as well, albeit not only Catholicism. All (formally or informally) nationalized right hand path traditions become hyper-bureaucratic and split between an extremely simple, mostly non-beneficial praxis for the laity that keeps the NPC's pacified, and a highly technical orthodoxy for a priestly/monastic class that's typically very bureaucratic, very effeminate, and unable to function in normal society (although in transitionary stages where this bureaucratic system is establishing itself on the edge of society, you'll occasionally wind up with warrior monks.)
The Byzantines were far more legalistic that the most shekel grubbing Rabbi could dream of and they were inseparable from the Catholic church until the 9th Century or so. Things didn't change much when that empire went into decline.
I'm noticing the longer antisemitism is trending online, the more it's falling into these delusional schizophrenic traps. People are forgetting the actual problem they had with Judaism and are replacing them with new reasons niche to their individual interests that make far less sense.

@ArdainianRight >is a totalitarian web of bureaucratic rules and regulations designed as a system of psychological torture designed to isolate Jews and turn them into neurotic wrecks entirely dependent upon the [clergy]
Many would say this also describes the Catholic Church.
It's unwise to be merely theologically antisemitic bc 1: Orthodox Jews aren't the one influencing culture. They don't matter. 2: Those religious Jews that are the most subversive aren't religiously Jewish, they're usually converts to whatever the local religion is, but they keep the Jewish behavior, in group preferences.

The only debate is whether or not eugenics can be a good thing.

@Forestofenchantment @Goalkeeper @Owl Jesus is the God of the emos. Perfect for the terminally online. No heroism, no fight for survival. Just withdraw into your monastery or synagao- cough church, and ignore the state of the outside world while feasting on your eucharist as the world falls apart around you.
Zero Dionysian power. Zero Odinic will for survival. Just die now so you won't die twice when God sends all the useful people to hell, then incels will rise up. Just gotta wait on Jesus bro.
