     But there are still people for whom IRC is alive and well. Same for BBS and Gopher. Gemini is a niche little thing, really just an outlet for autists who don't seriously expect anyone to read anything they write, but still, it's there and not technically dead.
     
     Myspace isn't technically dead (is it?) as there are still people there.
     
     The thing that's hard to find is a critical mass of humans, let alone humans who can think for themselves, examine evidence critically, change their own opinions and others', all in good faith.
     
     Fedi used to have a lot more debating evidence, but that's all but gone these days. But that's the sort of thing that makes a community a community and not just a tribal reposting circlejerk.
     
     That's also the reason Nostr never had a chance; no matter how technically nice it was (was, not is, since its protocol got bloated almost immediately by soydevs), the community was nothing but bitcoin bots, both human and literal.
     
     For those who want to go deeper, the answer seems to be in the past via old books. But those just don't give the same dopamine high that we're all used to.
     
     I fear the Brave New World is becoming reality.
