@Leaflord@coolboymew it's as if marine recruits were following makeup blogs and constantly making snipes like "wow, beauty? Personal attractiveness? Is that all you care about? I thought we were better than this. I guess not."
@wishgranter14@pinemarten@DK_Dharmaraj the point is that you know exactly what he's going to say, so you don't need to see it. That reply is like a shark fin in bloody water.
@Zerglingman it's just the grifter's reflex, but they're right in a way: >warmer planet -> more plants >more plants -> denser forests >denser forests -> worse fire potential >worse fire potential -> more controlled burns needed >more controlled burns needed -> higher chance that a female-only firefighter's organization will hold one and then let it get out of control and then get extremely quiet
@LucoaMilkers@coolboymew@mangeurdenuage >loli "reproduction prohibited" it's the law! >milf "reproduction prohibited" strong stance against NTR! >office lady "reproduction prohibited" why noooottt? c'moooon, is she reserved? this isn't fair
@coolboymew@mangeurdenuage >I reposted it logically, you should then be angry at people who repost it "didn't you see the DO NOT REPOST message?!" and then those people should in turn get angry
It's exactly like normal viral transmission of a meme, but with a second shockwave of irritation at people not following instructions
@diresock@sjw "Be kind, rewind" was just the VHS version of returning shopping carts, and that challenge is found in many other places in society. My favorite "hold the fucking trash in your hand for a few more minutes, you lazy bastard, so that you can put it in a trash can instead of spitefully spreading broken glass across the bike path"
@Terry@ahmad@Shlomo he just saw Ukrainian livestock in a Ukrainian house on Ukrainian land--being flooded, and destroyed, to the detriment of the owners and the local economy (and nevermind what flag that economy ultimately has, the people living there are the same) and made it a joke about how Russians are pigs. This is just hatred for the whole region that tactically presents the hate as against Russians in particular.
Q: how could that be, when all gamergaters were men? A: after playing enough Hitman games, gamers can become masters of disguise... feminist-frequency.png
@dieulast@Zerglingman nah, oops("hello") is evaluated in both cases. It really runs. "hello" is really the result of the second invocation of it. What's going on there is 'scalar context' vs. 'list context'. The assignment to a scalar $reversed causes oops() to run in scalar context, which causes the returned reverse() to run in scalar context, which means that reverse() reverses the string. The second oops() is run in list context, where reverse() reverses the list of arguments that it's given -- the one-item list containing the string "hello", the reverse of which is a one-item list containing the string "hello"
Context sensitivity is a feature that's useful... never. And in the core language, all it does is overload a few functions like reverse() so that you can both reverse lists and strings with it. But if you become good at Perl and write and maintain Perl programs then every few years you'll have some dumb bug caused by you accidentally relying on context in the wrong way. This is the subtle repulsiveness of Perl that you get from several other features. The obvious repulsiveness is just how it looks, especially how OOP looks.
