@crunklord420 do the sound effects in cyberchud really require the 11025Hz precision (MY_DIVISOR), the sound effects in assets/snd mostly have pitches that are 1ms~10ms apart so i think it’s a bit overkill but i have no way to verify them by reencoding with aubiopitch due to the original wav’s not being in the repo
(some platforms without sufficient PIC precision lag like shit due to the divisor, 1000hz will work fine on them but ruins sound)

@crunklord420 ok, seems like the interrupt takeover (or PIT?) WAS the issue, I removed everything that fiddles with the interrupt, and removed g_ticks++ in the IRQ with just returning __builtin_ia32_rdtsc() (~15 cycles, didn't make any difference since time_diff seemed to always be upscaled to milliseconds) and completely commented out the sound subsystem, and everything seems to run smoothly on Windows vmware.
i attached the git diff in case you need it, overall i can only guess either the takeover of IRQ_TIMER (0x20) by my_irq_isr causing issues, or the PIT frequency isn't being handled properly (not too likely).

@crunklord420 oh now i get it, the readme said nothing about the wad so i thought the elf loader finds stuff automagically (now my binaries run).
i'll report back with all the interrupt stuff gutted out and RDTSC ticks for timing and see if that does anything on Windows.

@crunklord420 I can't get this thing to run properly for some reason for Windows vmware (Linux vmware works fine). It isn't an HPET issue as i suspected since you seem to use g_ticks updated by the ISR this time, and I tried replacing it with GetTSC/cnts.time_stamp_freq to no avail, so I'm not sure what's exactly happening here. I get 300+ fps (which is good) but the game seems to fail to keep track of time and everything is in slow motion.
(ps the libcyberchud binary i build keeps faulting for some reason even though I buit it just as outlined in the readme)

#dreamjournal (tldr: I saw the gates of hell and it's actually beautiful)
My parents told me the world was going to end. I spent around the week in the dream wondering why people were all so normal, then I realized they didn't know it yet. When the time came I canceled all my schedules and looked at the sky. It had 3 gray rings with a weird heart-shaped letter in the middle. Terry Davis was next to me for some reason, I asked him "You think the world is going to end?" - he replied "Yeah" and walked away with a happy face. Then I realized he'd been dead for 6 years.
I was keep staring at the rings when they turned rainbow, and started "opening" with a black fire starting from its center. It was very pretty but I was worried it was finally the end so I went back into my house to spend my last moments with my parents. All of a sudden this hot gust of wind blew the walls off of every building and all traces of water vanished. I was gasping for fresh air but I wondered if there was any tap water left and turned the shower on, it spurted water for like 3 seconds. I heard a loud voice yelling at the sky outside my house.
It was someone I knew but have no idea who he is, he was arguing with the rings about how he was intelligent, useful and shouldn't die. The rings said "karma isn't transactional" and wiped him and the buildings around him off the face of the Earth. I thought to myself "I haven't really done anything good in my life, shit." and went back inside my house. There was this sci-fiesque noise (think of a lightsaber from the sky), another gust of hot wind and the sun vanished.
I was left staring at a pitch black background with the most beautiful thing I've seen in my life, stars of all kinds of colors, green, purple, blue, red, big enough to look like bright glistening cheese holes in the black sky. I knew the end was near, so I ran to my dad and shouted "YOU READY?". My dad shouted back "YEAH!". I sat next to him, painfully inhaling and exhaling extremely hot air.
Another gust of wind made all the stars in the sky vanish and now the sole source of light left in the world was the fire devouring everything in sight. I spent the last seconds next to my dad while being turned to ashes while thinking how I haven't really done anything good in my life and what I would face in the afterlife. The moment I vanished I woke up. The dream was so real and breathtaking (literally) I thought I was actually dead for a full minute or so.
I slowly realized that my dream basically depicts what hell is - things you need and love vanish in front of your eyes, and you burn to ashes and it repeats until you have washed away all your karma. I wondered why everything was so beautiful then I found some Buddhist text saying "The gates of hell are beautiful so people open it without even noticing".
I don't think I want to go to hell.
