to be honest, this is the first time i've ever had to _actually_ take care of any living being before. i've never had to give a cat medications or wound care before.
i'm not handling it well...

i'm not handling it well...
most of the meds that work on pets work on humans too, but like 10X more.
the government is probably strict about pet prescriptions because some drug addict might take the drugs instead of giving it to a pet.
i think this is perfectly understandable. it's understandable that they thought the pet needed help.
it is also understandable that people have addictions.
being a junkie should not cause a dog to suffer.
dogs can suffer if removed from their owner.
try to help the dog but also offer relief to the junkie. how about we stop thinking about the god damned money all the time?
most systems keep people alive. but at what cost?
socialism and capitalism both fail in their own ways.
you sometimes wonder if with how selfish and inadequate and limited we are, the best system isn't one where everyone's low-key unhappy all the time?
make those people happy and these people suffer. make them all equally dissatisfied and this is the best outcome possible.
@realcaseyrollins if i embraced them, i would not have put them in quotes. consider the context.
@coin no, it's probably the medications they gave him.
Blizzard's making noises like he might vomit. *spreads towel out on carpet*
leaving for the vet with Blizzard in about 25 minutes.
Blizzard's open sore looks a bit more watery now. i'm glad he has an appointment with the vet 1.5 hours from now. petting him right now and he's purring.
economists keep confusing money for value. that's how they can claim "productivity" has increased over time.
i think value is subjective. some may value human interaction enough that they don't think self-service at a grocery store is an improvement, for example, even if the waiting times are reduced, and even if the business balance sheets look better.
in a way, economists are trying to quantify things that aren't possible to quantify. they take that as a challenge, basically. how can we turn this into numbers?
just read an article about AI from a Norwegian business executive.
it made the weakest argument ever that Europe should adopt AI tech as quickly as possible.
the argument was about productivity and Europe's ageing population.
AI isn't gonna replace a carpenter, nurse or a cook anytime soon. who cares about the white collar workers? they're not the ones doing all the work.
feeling a bit frustrated, because while i can think clearly as day, i'm terrible about making decisions. they take me ages and get delayed for far too long. i look to other people for answers but they don't have them. and neither do i. i just have questions, most of the time.
the question is: should i give Blizzard away? if i can't cover a vet visit for him, i'm technically unable to take care of him.
want to be tracked less yet still use cutting edge tech and have every convenience? there's a tech company that sells that deal and everyone hates it.
as far as i can tell, Twitter and its nerdy cousin Mastodon have no culture for inviting people to partake in group activities. closest i've seen is people inviting you to Matrix rooms, but they're kind of similar to Mastodon itself, in that the only shared activity there is talking. there's nothing to immerse yourself in.
@Hyolobrika yes. the movie nights you linked also work. just hope the time zones align. i haven't checked what those times are for me locally.
@Hyolobrika looks like i'm gonna have to try to shift my sleep cycle for these. not that this is an inconvenience for me, but i've accidentally become a bit of an early riser with the years.
crazy
@ichbindabomb i feel exactly the same way about women
this is a bit like saying there's a correlation between stubbing your toe on a table leg and feeling pain.
toaster: *jumps*
me: *jumps in chair*
nerves are a bit bad tonight.
