New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Thursday, 09-May-2024 14:37:26 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 I tend to prefer option B, just because I feel it lends the series less rigidity and more towards experimentation with subsequent entries, keeps things fresh, if only on a surface level. Also it gives each character the ability to have an arc with a definitive "end," even if they end up being a supporting character in a subsequent entry their role in that story could be completely different (plus you don't run into the problem of "character fatigue," as easily). -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Sunday, 05-May-2024 13:27:11 JST New World Indigo I have decided that I need to move back to the city (not the one I moved here from, but A city).
I've tried making this whole middle of nowhere thing work, I tried to rationalize that the lower cost of living, lower taxes, and lighter traffic were pluses that outweighed the negatives, but this is just not me.
I am bored as hell, there's nowhere to go, I miss being able to walk everywhere, I miss my hipster record stores, I miss my overpriced coffee, I miss feeling there's always more to explore, I miss being able to just go to concerts without having to make travel plans, I miss the hustle and bustle of city life.
My job is in-office, but everyone I work with is on the other side of the state, so I for all intents and purposes get all the negatives of working from home with none of the benefits (or the "home" part). It's also way too easy and I'm bored all the time. I can *feel* my social skills regressing from not exercising them enough.
Plus I have no friends or family here, I have only really made one of the former (and they're thinking about moving), and I can just tell every person who I come in contact with can smell that I don't belong here and treats me as such.
I have concluded that I will die an urbanite by nature and nothing will ever change that no matter how hard I force it. Lease is up in four more months. Guess it's time to start looking.

New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Tuesday, 30-Apr-2024 10:13:53 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 Eh, there's been academic papers written about everything at this point. I don't doubt there's stupid pro-choice people out there for a second, any less than I acknowledge that there's a lot of very smart, educated, and informed pro-life people out there.
I'm still pro-choice, and I can't think of a situation in which my mind changes about that, but the idea of "post-birth-abortion," is total cartoon-logic nonsense, and sounds to me like some "slippery slope" bullshit peddled by extremist pro-lifers. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Tuesday, 30-Apr-2024 09:47:40 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 I don't seriously believe any genuine pro-choice person believes in that, and any that do have missed the point by a massive amount.
I could see them being fed plants intended to sow division, just like those supposed "pro-life" people who go around saying women should be executed for having abortions.
The whole issue glows on both sides these days. :glowinthedark: -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Friday, 19-Apr-2024 10:10:46 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 @LukeAlmighty I can respect that, I played Fallout 3 first too, and I was in the same boat as you, I'd never played a game like that before and it blew my mind at the time.
New Vegas, in my opinion, was a whole other level to me though. I won't bore you with another New Vegas gush-fest because I'm sure you've heard it, but I liked it. A LOT.
But dude, play Fallout 1 and 2. They are old and janky games, and they are going to take some getting used to. I always recommend using Per Jorner's "Nearly Ultimate Fallout Guide" (it's on the wiki) you're first time through the first game, because there's a few things about the game that I think some players need to have given to them, but trust me, it's worth it. Once you're in that world, those first two games are like nothing else out there.
Take it from someone who played Fallout 1 *after* 3 and New Vegas, and now considers the former to be both his favorite in the series, and one of his favorite games overall. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Friday, 19-Apr-2024 09:30:09 JST New World Indigo @LukeAlmighty @xianc78 I probobly will at some point too, I usually play a Fallout game every summer, so I think Tactics can be up next. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Friday, 19-Apr-2024 09:13:14 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 @LukeAlmighty It's kinda in a weird spot. Neither Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky, nor Chris Avellone were all not involved; it was commissioned by Interplay and mostly developed by a third party studio with little input from the Fallout 2 team; and it's existence is kinda extraneous.
I will confess, I have never finished it, although I did start it many years ago, and while I remember thinking it wasn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, it's not really "Fallout," in the way I think of it. I would need to play it again and finish it to give an informed answer.
I'm not aware of any glaring lore inconsistencies in Tactics (not like BHoS or 76, anyway), so if you want to count it as "one of the good ones," go nuts. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Friday, 19-Apr-2024 08:51:38 JST New World Indigo @LukeAlmighty With the exception of New Vegas, I don't consider any Fallout media since the second game cannon.
Trying to make sense of the disaster the post-Black Isle lore is otherwise is just exhausting. :pooh: -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Friday, 05-Apr-2024 13:27:40 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 Very possible... But I still don't think that flies for GoW3, especially not the Remastered version.
It's just bizarre to me because I consider NG+ to be near a crucial component of the spectacle fighter genera, to have it missing in one of the games that established that genera is... odd. :02shrug: -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Friday, 05-Apr-2024 12:57:53 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 I mean... maybe?
But what's GoW2's excuse then? Maybe having things like The Blade of Olympus and Maxed Magic created balancing problems with the higher difficulties (Made them too easy)?
But even that I don't buy, just rebalance the numbers to accommodate, or just say fuck it and let me have fun.
And I really don't get why they didn't add that in the GoW3 Remaster, that just came out a few years ago.
It's a nit-pick yeah, but... It irks me. I am irked. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Friday, 05-Apr-2024 12:27:46 JST New World Indigo Why do none of the Greek God of War games have functional New Game plus (except Ascension, the one thing that game did right)?
GoW 1 and 3 don't have it at all (including the remaster of 3), and GoW 2 has a fucked up version that only lets you replay with all your stuff on difficulties you've already beaten.
Devil May Cry 1 had the perfect New Game Plus system figured out in 2001, GoW 1 came out 4 years later, there's no excuse. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2024 05:20:39 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 @icedquinn I mean yeah... but I'm old enough to remember when we were all going to write-in Ron Paul in 2012 and... no dice.
Not saying it's not possible, it just requires more coordination than I think the American people (as they are) are capable of. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2024 05:15:45 JST New World Indigo @icedquinn @xianc78 That's the whole Democratic platform right now "it could be worse, so vote for us."
Trump is a grifter hack, we all learned this when he was President, and I think my use of the term "Conservatard" expresses how I feel about them. But at least they're presenting a platform their platform as an alternative, that's why they're probobly going to win.
What we need are age limits of holding public office (maybe mandatory retirement at 65), and term limits across the board. But the people in power right now would rather die than give it up, we're probobly going to just wait for that to happen before we get any real progress, unfortunately. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2024 05:05:04 JST New World Indigo @xianc78 @icedquinn This is true, but I think that was the idea, kicking the hornets nest on purpose to draw out a reaction. Gives Biden and co. "points" with the the progressive left, if only on a superficial level. They need to get them back on their side right now if they want to beat Trump, it's just funny how nobody's fallen for it this time. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2024 04:50:00 JST New World Indigo @affine @icedquinn This is true, it's really just the last day of March, which has been the case since 2009. Easter falling on the same day is just kind of a coincidence, it's even happened before.
This is just the first time a sitting president has acknowledged it, which in and of itself I don't think anyone would really care about. The way they did it had to have been on purpose though, the topic is just too hot right now for it to have not been. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2024 04:49:57 JST New World Indigo @allison @icedquinn @affine Interesting, I never knew this.
But I think my point stands, if they did the same thing this year I don't think anyone would really care that much, they had to have known presenting it the way they did would provoke a response with the burger land political climate being what it is right now. Kabuki theatre, and all that. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2024 04:32:28 JST New World Indigo @icedquinn Maybe. It got people talking about something that isn't the economy, Israel, or Ukrane, so it did its job as far as they're concerned. -
New World Indigo (indigo@shitposter.world)'s status on Monday, 01-Apr-2024 04:31:59 JST New World Indigo I find the whole "making Easter Trans Day of Visibility," thing to be pretty funny.
All it does in lefty circles is provoke memes and eyerolls since they know it's blatant pandering and a desperate attempt to save face with the younger base since they all hate Biden (correctly) for kowtowing to Israel.
Meanwhile the Conservatards are having literal meltdowns over the "demonic government" perverting a Christian holiday, which has been so secularized at this point that a non-insignificant percentage of Americans don't even realize it is one anymore.
This is some high-quality wasp nest kicking, I'm here for it.
