     @Rhodesian_YuKari @MoeBritannica You've got this wrong. You sort by language, then you sort into fiction and non-fiction, then by genre or subject matter, then by publisher, then by country or time-period, and then by author. You don't sort by colour, because that's gay and nonsensical.
     
     Leaving shelves unsorted triggers my 'tism. Every once in a while I stay up all night completely clearing and refilling my bookshelf(s) for no practical reason.

     For non-fiction you want to organize by topic so that you can reference the text later. After 5-10 years worth of study, you forget specifics and need to look them up on occasion.
