Mostly paying for enhanced durability and slightly better glass after the $1,000-$1,500 zone I should say. Stuff like having better visibility at dawn/dusk and less aberrations/blurryness on the edges which is nice for snipers but not as big an issue otherwise.

Once you look through nice glass you get spoiled.
