Ended up being one of my better decisions because I learned all the basics before moving to mint, then debian, and finally devuan.

The BSD community is currently grappling with the same thing. Though they’ve staved them off for now (and I am very thankful for that), I know the trannies are just going to keep trying and I can only hope the community remains as relatively based as it is.
  Though there are some BSDs that have eaten the tranny dick and insist you do too though, which is sad to see.
