anyone can use the tool for anything they want to, that's literally WHY it's different from / better than other social media platforms

@duke @kissane I do understand the concept of this tool, Mastodon. I just think it can be altered somewhat and for good reason. To help prevent the kind of misinformation that leads to murder. Literal murder. Often mass murder.

ASSUMING it were possible to do, let's say someone actually did what you want done to the mastodon codebase: how would you, for example, prevent me from immediately forking it and re-releasing a version without those changes?

This is the end result and why fiction depicted computers differently before and after mainstreaming. -
