     It boils down to "slave trade was so profitable that they spent 300+ years capturing each other to sell as slaves, so they not only got stuck in time as far as cultural advancement goes (because any kind of scholar who was not a warrior was captured and sold as slave), but they also regressed, as they killed/captured and sold all the 'useless' people who couldn't fend for themselves but knew how stuff like 'farming' worked".

     Africa is poor because the creatures that live there are 50,000 years behind Earth in terms of evolution. When the White man arrived in great ships of the line in Africa they hadn't domesticated animals, invented the wheel or managed a single civilization. They are the last link in a dead end branch of evolution. Africa needed blockaded not exported to the planet en masse. Killing these poor creatures is an act of pity, not malice.

Islam is unironically good for African countries in that it seems to impose some warped sense of morality in comparison to the various tribal religions I've been exposed to. Another thing they'll do is take a religion, such as Christianity, and combine it with tribal spirituality which breeds it's own oddities.
     
     Either way, it beats out the ritual child mutilation/murder witchdoctor nonsense.

     @racs @Zerglingman @BigTLarrity @matty that and historically african muslim nations with exception for arab or arab-dominated african nations were extremely lenient on enforcing islamic law until very recently (late 1970s-80s) with wahhabic/salafist evangelism starting to be more widespread and influencing islamic societies in africa to be more in line with sharia law.
