   Interesting article from Fortune discussing the wave of boomer retirement and how zoomers are set up to replace boomers in the work force next year. Zoomers will be more vocal about poor pay and conditions but they'll also force gay political talk down everyone's throats

     @SapientPearwood The condition of infrastructure and logistics are going to get a lot worse but thats largely because of diversity mandates as well

     We will also see big issues in a lot of fields because the Zoomies absolutely are not prepared or trained for a LOT of the things that will be required of them. They will have to learn via trial and error and that will take a bit of time, until they figure it out there will be severe downtime in some fields.

     @synapsid I've experienced that exact same thing in my shop, only now the company lost so much money on boarding useless people who quit or get fired immediately that they're doing a hiring freeze

     I fell for the boomer meme of 'work your way up in a factory', wasted years of my life, wised up, and got the FUCK out. It's the same at every fucking shop and unless you run your own place or get lucky at a small mom&pop one, you won't find anything better.

     Industrial capacity will half overnight when all the old boomers making decent wages at machine shops retire, no one wants to replace them because virtually every shop is trying to get bodies in the door for backbreaking , monotonous work at less than $20/hr. No more benefits, no more pension, these shops get bought out by corporate hedge funds then stripped of everything that allowed them to thrive in the first place (decent management and decent benefits to attract high quality workers). Now, you'll be lucky to get a guy that isn't an alcoholic retard to work there

     @synapsid @PraxisOfEvil A fren showed me a list of the guys holding up the comms infrastructure in the state…..it’s very bleak. Newest hire is in ‘02, all the guys trained on these systems are retired in the next 3 years, if they haven’t been forced out already. The company seems to be comfy with the idea that older systems and land connections will be terminated in favor of “wireless”, and that goes for high-uptime phone systems too.

     Seems like a tiny deal but these are the guys who get paged out at 1 AM to go and make sure the 911 facility can still receive phone calls. If they all retire at once, the state’s basically stuck replacing the system entirely, or accepting that 99.98% uptime is something we’ll leave back in the good ol’ days

     Anyone have that article talking about how the top 500 companies hired 90% non-Whites for their White-collar positions in 2022? White men are being systemically denied access to these jobs in favor of women and brown people. Look at HR departments- almost exclusively overeducated White women and pajeets. You think they're gonna give you a fair shake when they actively get bonuses for meeting "diversity and inclusion" hiring goals?

     @synapsid @PraxisOfEvil this may sound overly optimistic but all the young white guys without big college degrees that got decent jobs i know personally got them through small businesses. they're not beholden to the diversity shit and whether they know it or not they're looking for white guys who can handle multi faceted jobs. 'oh this guy i interviewed is great, self starter, real sharp' yeah lot of words to say a white guy
     
     feels like hunting for the needle in the haystack but i'd put out feelers any way possible- internet or irl- to find these job openings

     @synapsid I've changed careers a couple times, feel stuck in the manufacturing sector rn, tried braching out but can't find anything outside my wheelhouse that pays as well and soon I don't think I'll have any other options
