     @WashedOutGundamPilot @DW2 Scott Adams started making Dilbert just as software developer was becoming one of the most common professions in the US.
     
     Somebody was going to fill that niche, and he just so happened to drop out of actually being a programmer to make cartoons about being one instead at the right time.
