@verita84 @victor @i @spitfire They’re building it entirely with the mindset of big corpos buying in, and not thinking of the needs of our autistic army. It’s not a product designed for us, which is fine, but I’m not going to use it unless the final product looks different from this.

They're not using BlueSky.
Here's who I see using BlueSky: "that guy". We all know "that guy", he/she/it sits on big social media websites crying day in day out about what say Twitter did. Oh no Elon did this, oh no Elon did that, and whatnot.
They're 100% hooked on Twitter, and they get the initiative to try something else. The problem is, at the core they're normies or lemmings. If they're not normies, their friends are, and unfortunately their friends are also literally on the level of women in Mac commercials. You know, like with Mumble, "why don't this work fuck this I wanna go back to Skype/Discord".
But here's the thing; if we aren't here because of our Linux autism we're here because we either would get banned from Twitter for posting what we want, our friends got banned, or we would get harassed and doxed for posting on Twitter (see Zamii070 for an example of the Tumblr Mob that moved to Twitter).
They're on Bluesky/Mastodon because their ghoulish tech CEO got replaced with the wrong internet daddy. They're not on there because they want freedom of speech or to talk to banned users or for a place away from Big Tech, they're on these sites because of pent up anger against someone. They have no reason to use these sites for long because they can easily go back.
It gets worse; any technical barrier, any issue, and their friends will want to go back to what is comfortable for them. It'll take Twitter turning to total shit (downtimes and massive ban waves) for them to leave, and look Discord has ban waves these days en masse and do normies give a shit? No, they want to be where their friends and ecelebs are.
So inevitably these sites die off, can't find funding, and close down. Their users will always come crawling back to Twitter, because all their friends are there and maybe there's a chance they can get retweets.
YouTube or FurAffinity are also good substitutes for this analogy because they have the same issue. Nobody uses alternatives to YouTube unless they're uploading anti-government/narrative videos or "naming the Jew" or uploading edgy humor. Nobody uses alternatives to FurAffinity and other art sites of that nature unless they're uploading cub/loli. If your "alternative site" doesn't have the "bad people" using it it'll be dead and that's the reality of things. Even if it's as a Big Tech rugpull where they build up users and then ban the "problem ones" when there's a scandal like Discord did.

@eris @verita84 @victor @i @spitfire Who is even the target audience? That's what I'm wondering. Someone who badly wants to jump ship from Twitter, but they're not free speech aligned, but they want it to be a protocol, but Mastodon isn't good enough. Show me that person.

@alex @eris @verita84 @victor @i @spitfire Most Akkoma users, and many English speaking Misskey users who refuse to use Pleroma.

I mean I'm literally adjacent to that community; but the thing is the same shit happens there.
There's a cycle of "look at this new art site to replace shit art site", it gets users for a month and it dies off. It's been going on a lot less lately after the rise of Twitter for two reasons. The first is that every artist would rather use Twitter looking for exposure, and the second is that with the furry fandom being the first community to successfully be torn down and rebuilt in the image of wokeness (which was too easy), they now tear down any attempts at starting a FurAffinity clone.
Case in point, there was a furry art site that crashed and burned (literally ran on fucking XenForo and then Misskey no this is not a joke) and within a few weeks/months the announcements tab was this hilarious juxtaposition. Two virtue signaling messages next to some policy caving into the "drawings have rights" crowd on Twitter (who was arguing that this was not enough either). It's even more hilarious for that reason.
Essentially a new art site would have to not be run by furries.

@PhenomX6 @galena @victor @i @alex @spitfire @verita84 It’s weird that you’re so familiar with the furry community but you’re basically right. The Elon shit is so retarded too, he’s literally appointing a representative of the World Economic Forum as the new CEO and they still pretend he’s too based for them because he trolls celebrities in the Community Notes.

@PhenomX6 @victor @i @alex @galena @spitfire @verita84 I think we need to talk about Jesus Christ. It’s not ok to be a furry.
