     @Giganova8 It’s better to mock your enemies, hardly anyone used wojaks as an avatar of the self until the chud/doomer wojaks, and the former was partially to offend the creators and overtake their own meme to infuriate them.

     True, but I see them being used for a lot more than mockery these days. The whole thing just feels gross in a way that's hard to explain, like people are degrading themselves by association, even if the intent is mockery. :cirno_think:

     Wojak started as self, the other started as mockery.

     @Giganova8 @WashedOutGundamPilot It was literally one guy, a couple of years ago, who commissioned this one artist tens of thousands of dollars to make hundreds upon hundreds of soyjak drawings. Because they were spammed constantly on Cuckchan, it became a successful forced meme.

     @Hoss @kuon @WashedOutGundamPilot @Giganova8 Wojak is the original "that feel when" meme, it got huge on 4chan in the early 2010s along with the sad pepe memes as this was when a lot of the userbase was begining to experience huge volumes of depression and melancholy. As time went on they became increasingly suicidal and angry, much like the users. Then around 2014 gamergate and a bunch of other shit happened and you started seeing the crying suicidal wojaks and the smug pepes, which then got picked up by normalfags. Shit became unstable after the trump election and you got lots of mutants and variations until you reach around 2017/8 where you get the explosion of suicidal pink wojaks on /biz/ as well as the bunkerchan chud raid.
     
     Then came /qa/ and you got this toxic pit that started making endless soyjaks.
     
     In a lot of ways it's like a mirror divergance of the old userbase itself with some trooning out and others becoming bizzare ghouls. They all started out as anons.
