   I really need to adopt this “UHHHH You must be saying {incorrect fag opinion}, because if not then you’re insinuating something p. racist” thing. It’s funny

   Sometimes when I see this I hope that smart anons looking to prank someone will jsut set a reminder for like, 1.4 years in the future so that their pranks are time-delayed. Everyone can weather the storm in the first little burst, but it’s quite different when they have to do it later.

     i understood it as used here meaning a rhetorical technique in which a small part of something is used to represent the whole. strategically cropped pictures would also qualify.

But when you make a faulty argument instead of a rhetorical flourish, you are not then making a synecdoche, you are committing the Fallacy of Divisions. thoughtco.com/what-is-the-fallacy-of-division-250352 I wouldn't normally make a big deal about the distinction, but he's explicitly talking about "a logical fallacy" before trying and failing to name it. The dipshit in the screencaps is trying to sound smart, instead of being smart.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot "Synecdoche" is not the name of the logical fallacy, it's the "fallacy of division". A synecdoche is when you use division properly, for metaphorical or rhetorical purposes. Which is extra funny, because here it implies all that racism research really is bunk. That mortgage study, in particular, is cleanly explained by "racist" factors, and you have to twist yourself into denying statistics and rejecting how income disparities work to claim otherwise. Fuck this overeducated pencil-necked midwit cock sucking dipshit. I hope his life gets ruined and he spends the rest of his days quaking in fear of shadowy, anonymous racist shitposters.

     I had no idea anyone was still trying to make that a thing. For context it's when a leftist airs a virtue signalling opinion then instead of just vapidly agreeing or signalling in response, you actually question them about it and draw attention to the fact that they have no idea how to defend what they just said.
