See, this is what the GNU/Linux enthusiasts don’t quite grasp. Pop is doing well because they’re taking the overall playing grounds that is Linux and packaging it in an easy to digest package with their computer line up. It’s no longer “Linux,” it’s Pop. Grandma buying a computer online is looking for something pleasing to see and use. Systemwhatever company offer that, with the added bonus of being flexible to new editional features if the user so chooses.

This is what it used to be about.

When you tell them you don’t wanna waste time on learning command line stuff they laugh and balk like you’re missing out. Like how car guys don’t ‘get’ why you’d pay for an oil change - it’s fun work for them, a source of pride in going through the motions.
System76 has hit on something pretty good, in that it’s mostly headache-free as an OS, which is about the highest praise you can give these days. I recommend it to family now that their windows keeps bugging them.

How does PopOS handle security fixes and OS updates? Is it pretty smooth? -

It’s basically a commercial product at its core, they seem pretty active about keeping it up.
