I actually decided to take the name subs4social as a pun; I was planning I giving away free subdomains to anons and frens for their own private instances. I gave up that idea, because buying a separate SSL cert for every project idea I had under S4S would be prohibitively expensive.

Holders of your subdomain would also be able to provision their own that way. -

From some script I found a list (so I copied it into mkcerts.sh) which I *think* is all free, but I'm not certain:

I got my current 1-yr cert from a Spaintard Europoor company. I think it was like $1.99.

I had already purchased this domain name, so whatever introductory price namecheap had offered on the shopping cart was no longer available.

:blank: (i@declin.eu)'s status on Monday, 07-Oct-2024 02:01:48 JST :blank: @pwm @amerika @bot @KuteboiCoder and even then, you might as well order a wildcard cert and share that
but there's definitely close to zero reason to buy a plain ssl certificate -
pwm (pwm@pl.absolutelyproprietary.org)'s status on Monday, 07-Oct-2024 02:01:50 JST pwm @KuteboiCoder @amerika @bot I guess maybe that's not technically possible for you, but if it is, I highly endorse.
You should never pay for an ssl cert.
