Garden of Eden? Did something bad, got kicked out
Tower of Babel? Public works, shorted things, everyone else's fault
Sodom and Gomorrah? Dipped right as everything went to shit
Jericho? Somebody opened the gates/sabotaged from the inside
Passover? Jew group kills if the house isn't marked because reasons
Etc. Etc.
God bails them out repeatedly despite things like the brass idol, even goes so far as to inspire the ten commandments (aside, who needs to be told by *God Himself* not to adulter/kill/steal/etc. in order to realize you maybe shouldn't do said things?) and the behavior persists.
