@nixCraft 14 You run down the rabbit hole and after a few months nothing that happens scares you.

The last privacy law passed in the USA was the Video Privacy Protection act in 1988. It made it illegal for video store clerks to reveal your rental history. The idea that congress or anyone else will move to protect US citizens' data in the near future is amusing.

lemgandi (lemgandi@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 21-Sep-2024 05:58:18 JST lemgandi @nixCraft Still happy with my Teracube 1 ( 2022 or so). The new model has a removeable battery, a feature of my last phone I sorely miss. But alas, no separate charger as of yet.

lemgandi (lemgandi@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 12-Sep-2024 09:32:47 JST lemgandi @nixCraft My MB died but not my drives. I keep $HOME on a separate drive from my OS. When I replaced the motherboard it couldn't boot the old Debian 10. But I wiped and installed 12 and everything pretty much Just Worked. The only major pain was reinstalling all my packages from the new repo, and I could do that as the need arose.

Some of my peers will stop making music when that happens, 'cause their tools will stop working.
