Right, realised why this was happening…

Had the virtual keyboard type set to ISO in Karabiner Elements while the external keyboard I have attached is ANSI.

You don’t need the above mapping if you set it correctly :)

If you use Vial (https://get.vial.today) to configure your keyboard on macOS and you need to map a key to backtick/tilde, the backtick/tidle key won’t work (you’ll get the section/plus-minus key). Instead, map it to the following code:

KC_NONUS_BSLASH

(At least that’s what worked for me on the British English Mac layout.)

What's extraordinary about this is that it's all just assumed. Republicanism (or American Nazism) is normal because it has to be normal, because if it wasn't normal we'd have a lot of things to unpack and fix and solve, and that might get us into time and money.

And it's never asked, is it, that since millions and millions of Americans hate Donald Trump, that Harris is actually *in* touch rather than *out* of touch? Supremacist Americans are normal, is the unspoken frame, and whoever they support must be normal, too.
