@Mastodon It seems rare that American programmers do public service things like this. Makes me kind of ashamed. I guess the European system is different? That programmers can find themselves with the free time for large projects without getting kicked out of their homes for not paying the rent.

@nixCraft There is only 1 distro. They only differ in the package manager, what they will set up for you out of the box, and how many text editors they will install.

@itsfoss lol I was an EMACS guy in college. The only Vi commands still in my brain are :s, :wq. To be fair, I haven't used EMACS in 20 years and I only remember ctrl K, ctryl Y, ctrl x ctrl c.

@nixCraft I never "buy" anything on a subscription model. So far I have been lucky to be able to do that.

@nixCraft It was my first programming language. Thank goodness it was not Basic or Visual Basic.
