Now that the storm has passed — I can share an update on screen reader support under Wayland.

As part of STF; GNOME has been working since the end of last year on resolving the matter.

The main issue is that we currently lack a way to “snoop on” or “grab” key events from the compositor.

We now have a draft protocol and implementation in Orca and Mutter thanks to @matt

We are doing our best to get it ready for GNOME 47.

Only the focused window matters for "you are here".

There are already plenty of hints:
• Window is maximized
• Title/toolbars not dimmed
• You just opened the window
• Backdrop for modal/transient
• Darker shadow
• In-app cursor / focus indicator
• Window focus notification

See the screenshot, looks pretty obvious to me. I seem to recall the design team working on making it even more obvious for 3rd party apps.

Workbench is now fully sandboxed 🎉

With next release, it will be rated as “Safe” by Flathub and will shield users from accidents or malicious code.

I have removed the session-bus permission. It was used for IPC between Workbench UI and the external previewer.

Moving to a P2P DBus connection wasn't as straightforward as I had hoped, but I'm happy with the result.

Bonus: it is now fully async to prevent UI thread from blocking, and the previewer process will exit when not in use.

#WebKitGTK is looking for a #Linux user with #NVIDIA GPU to help debug an issue with the #GTK 4 port.

You should be comfortable patching and compiling a system package.

• Added support for reporting Blueprint errors.

• Added support for custom transformers. This feature lets you pipe imported files into shell commands. There is a Sass example in the README.
