Yeah! That's how I curate the contents of my instance, by individual channels/accounts.
I normally just go to the instance's website and look at their local videos section? There's a dropdown menu that lets you order it by recent views, likes, all time views etc, this normally highlights a lot of interesting things.
#PeerTube is a type of Fediverse server for hosting video and audio. It's free open source software, so anyone can set up their own server (just like Mastodon).
Because anyone can start their own server, it's extra-important that there are safe ways to discover and search nice videos on PeerTube.
I've tried to create a safe PeerTube search/discovery service at:
p.p.s. Just for maximum transparency, as this hasn't come up before: I don't take any money or anything else from companies. I've occasionally received offers to pay for promotion, but turned them all down.
I don't think people want info accounts or info sites like fedi.tips to turn into product shilling systems. That's another reason for the donation links, to keep the sites and account independent and focused just on the needs of Fediverse members.
If you want to screen who follows your account on Mastodon:
1. Log in through your serverโs website or Mastodon web app 2. Click on your profile image to go to your profile page 3. Click on "Edit profile" 4. Click on "Privacy and Reach" tab 5. UN-tick box marked "Automatically accept new followers" 6. Click "Save changes" at bottom of page
Any new follows will need your approval, and a padlock ๐ will appear on your profile.
Thanks for the thought, unfortunately my country doesn't use checks/cheques any more... ๐ข
Any credit or debit card should work on the ko-fi link?
You don't have to register, you just fill in the form on the page. (I deliberately tried to choose a donation method that was as simple and easy as possible.)
p.s. As some people asked: the reason I post about donations once a month is because the bills for the sites come in once a month.
Almost all donations happen when I do a post about the donation options available, so that's why I post the options once a month.
I don't get any kind of grant or support from any organisations. It's entirely down to me to make sure the sites operate. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated!
Some people prefer the interface and features on Pixelfed servers, but many photographers use Mastodon.
As you can follow Pixelfed accounts from Mastodon, and Mastodon from Pixelfed, it is fine to use whichever one you prefer because people will still be able to follow you even if they're on the other.
"I can follow them, but I don't see any of their content on their profile unless I'm on a browser."
If you follow a Pixelfed post from Mastodon, you should see all their posts made after that moment. For example can you see the posts on @Iancylkowski ?
If no one on your server has followed or shared them before, then you won't see their past posts, but this is a general issue on all types of account rather than just Pixelfed:
