Yeah, that's pretty much it!

If one person from your server has followed the account, all of its posts made after that moment will show up for everyone on that server, and show up in searches on those servers.

So, even a handful of followers will very greatly expand your potential audience.

It's how many characters were on Twitter's original link shortener.

The original idea was to show that shorteners aren't needed on here because the link is the same length.

If you do one thing from the list, pinning a post (or several posts!) is the best way of preventing an account looking blank.

Pinned posts will ALWAYS show up on other servers, even if the account is brand new and has no followers at all.

(By the way, pictures aren't necessarily indicative of anything as a lot of blind users just leave the profile picture blank.)

I think deactivating the "show replies" option should work for replies made after the option was deactivated? It won't remove replies that have already made it onto your Home timeline.

By the way, even with replies activated, you will only see replies by people you follow to someone else you also follow.

The only things that appear in your Home timeline are these:

-Posts from people you follow
-Posts shared by people you follow
-Posts containing hashtags you follow

If there are posts from people you don't follow and you're 100% sure they aren't shared by people you follow, that sounds like they would have to be posts containing hashtags you follow?

As far as I know, screen reader apps will read the entire text, even if browsers truncate it.

Yup, just played around a bit with some test posts and you're right, this applies to boosts.

It should work between Mastodon accounts and Funkwhale channels (but not Funkwhale accounts).

If you click on "Edited" on my post, it will show a list of versions. Click on one of them to see the text of that version.

You see the entire text of all the previous versions. Click on "Edited" and then select one of the versions, it will show you the text in that version.

If you edit a post in any way, that will be notified to everyone who interacted with it, whether they are mentioned or not.

There's also a link on the edited post to show all the previous versions of the post.

Really good question!

You can edit polls, but if you edit the options on the poll it resets the numbers to zero.

Mastodon has a post editing feature which lets you make changes to your posts after they've been published.

Here's how to edit:

1. Go to the post
2. Click ⋯
3. Click "Edit"
4. Make the changes you want (including adding or removing attachments, or adding alt text descriptions)
5. Click "Save Changes"

NOTE: To prevent abuse, every time you edit a post it will send a notification to everyone who has interacted with it. So, try not to make too many edits! 😁

You cannot edit post visibility.
