Always interesting to live in a time when people are either picking a party to accelerate the human race back into the dark ages (No vaccines! No weather forecasting! Women are property! Only white men are created equal!), or not.. and having it being a "close race" per media. 🤨
@vfrmedia@EverydayMoggie@ascentale@pete#BikeTooter Not the one I have, no access to the drive shaft (at least, not easily). That said, I was able to convert a treadmill into a bicycle trainer/generator fairly easily, I need to find those photos.
@ascentale@pete#BikeNite A2. I don't have a backup plan, but I did pick up a bicycle trainer (found on the side of the road, LOL) which works--I have considered using that instead of riding before, although sitting in my garage riding briskly to nowhere to do nothing seems... strange. (not a "cyclists for exercise" person, I cycle for utilitarian reasons, ha ha). Maybe if I get a disco ball and disco lights and have very loud music playing, and pretend I am trendy. (Edit: normally just sitting in the garage pedaling nowhere would seem to me to be senseless and stupid LOL)
@vfrmedia@EverydayMoggie@ascentale@pete#BikeNite Ha! Found it. Bicycle generator I made out of a treadmill (everything except the 2x4's there stripped off a treadmill). My challenge that day was to "build a bicycle generator out of treadmill found on the side of a road". #bikegenerator
Ham radio/COOP weather stations on APRS near Asheville, NC in the last 24 hours vs. the last hour--near total loss of Internet/connectivity and or power in this region. #Asheville#NC#NCwx#Helene#hamradio#APRS
Cheap way to reduce drafts and energy usage in a home: insulating gaskets for your outlets. 18 to 20 cents each in bulk. Invisible once you install the wall plate. #insulation#diy#weatherization
@paul@ummjackson Ah yes, forgot, Mozilla not really a non-profit anymore. Kind of like the Red Cross (which has a giant business supplying blood to hospitals).
@paul@ummjackson I am quite familiar with the "but that's market rate for a CEO" arguments, I think all the nonprofit people here who believe that have blocked me already, LOL. I may be naive and clueless about such things, but when a nonprofit pays exorbitant amounts to their executives (even if that's "market rate for talent")--and relies on free volunteers for everything else-- I feel like our system is very, very broken. I have no objection to "nonprofit CEO being paid decent middle class salary", but when the "nonprofit CEO must be able to afford their mansion/yacht like the rest of the CEOs" it just make me very sad.
"What about my vacation?!" is not a very enlightened way to start an article about a town which already has multiple deaths via wildfire, imho. #editorial#journalism#Hawaii#Maui
