@lain What a beauty she is! Now I'm torn.
Redheads or castles,
Redheads or castles...
How do I pick one?
-
You may not like it but this is what peak female beauty looks like.
-
@lebronjames75 @thatguyoverthere The last part made me think that but I forgot that part of the book.
-
@thatguyoverthere Oh, when was this? During the rationing times? Or are we quoting a book?

The next time that you wonder why women were not allowed to work in the mines in Britain, remember this.
"Well, what did the British Government do when the heart-rending report of the commissioners was received? It felt the necessity of a show of legislative interference. Lord Ashley introduced a bill into the House of Commons, having for its object the amelioration of the condition of the mining women and children. Much discussion occurred. The bill passed the House of Commons, and was taken to the House of Lords, the high court of British oppression. Some lords advocated the measure, whereupon Lord Londonderry and some others spoke of them as "bitten with a humanity mania." Modifications were made in the bill to suit the pockets of the luxurious proprietors, and then it was grumblingly adopted. What did the bill provide? That no child under ten years of age, and no woman or girl, of any age, should be allowed to work in a mine. Now, children may be ten years of age, and above that, and yet they are still tender little creatures. The majority of the sufferers who came to the notice of the commissioners were above ten years of age! In that point, at least, the bill was worse than a nullity—it was a base deceit, pouring balm, but not upon the wound!"

@thatguyoverthere Doesn't seem like it set them free back then. Barely kept them alive.

"By the evidence collected under the commission, it is proved that there are coal-mines at present at work in which some passages are so small, that even the youngest children cannot move along them without crawling on their hands and feet, in which constrained position they drag the loaded carriages after them; and yet, as it is impossible by any outlay compatible with a profitable return, to render such coal-mines fit for human beings to work in, they never will be placed in such a condition, and, consequently, they never can be worked without this child slavery! When the roads are six feet high and upward, there is not only ample space for carrying on the general operations of the mine, but the coals can be drawn direct from the workings to the foot of the shaft by the largest horses; and when the main roads are four feet and a half high, the coals may be conveyed to the foot of the shaft by ponies or asses. But when the main ways are under four feet, the coals can only be conveyed by children. Yet, in many mines, the main gates are only from twenty-four to thirty inches high. In this case, even the youngest children must work in a bent position of the body. When the inclination of the strata causes all the workings out of the main ways to be on inclined plains, the young labourers are not only almost worked to death, but exposed to severe accidents in descending the plains with their loads, out of one level into another. In many of the mines, there is such a want of drainage and ventilation, that fatal diseases are contracted by the miners."
Written during the mid-1800's.

"People act like the entire country was Downton Abbey in those days, Britain was in fact a horror show for the poor and working class who didn't even have the vote for much of slavery. The modern Gladstone family are STILL living in a world where the deplorables are beneath their notice in comparison to their global concerns. Any reparations for people long dead could be helping living people in far greater need and far closer."
Great point. The British were treated as guinea pigs for the industrial revolution, and had to learn the hard way about the poor and often dangerous working conditions which left many men, women and children disabled or even dead.
-
"That, in the districts in which females are taken down into the coal-mines, both sexes are employed together in precisely the same kind of labour, and work for the same number of hours; that the girls and boys, and the young men and young women, and even married women and women with child, commonly work almost naked, and the men, in many mines, quite naked; and that all classes of witnesses bear testimony to the demoralizing influence of the employment of females under ground.
"That, in the East of Scotland, a much larger proportion of children and young persons are employed in these mines than in any other districts, many of whom are girls; and that the chief part of their labour consists in carrying the coal on their backs up steep ladders.
"That, when the work-people are in full employment, the regular hours of work for children and young persons are rarely less than eleven, more often they are twelve; in some districts they are thirteen, and in one district they are generally fourteen and upward."
You worked or you starved. I wonder how many of these people got reparations for their treatment?

Although I still maintain that minds should have remained its own social media site for people interested in their values rather than joining activitypub. Not every social media site needs to be here. In fact, a lot probably shouldn't be here because they want centralisation.
The fediverse is better when people share the values of freedom software and decentralisation. That people come here in good faith rather than carrying on corporate centralised social media with some kind of twist.
We are certainly not twitter without nazis here. We aren't twitter.
-
I wonder how many times people from minds have shown up in my threads and I just never realised because their posts are invisible to notifs so I have to catch them on my timeline while active here. Weird glitches.
-
@coolboymew I can't seem to concentrate as well as I'd like either. Cursed.
-
@coolboymew What is that like?
-
I'm never sure if I'm checking fedi because fedi is distracting or I'm already distracted so I check fedi. Anyone else get that?

When I wake up, I thank god every day that I'm not a queer. Have you seen their fashion-sense? It's worse than mine and I have no fashion-sense.

"I had a similar situation about 5 years ago with "micro aggressions." I got in trouble for using an Asian accent because I was quoting Con from King of the Hill. Where Hank says "so are you Chinese or Japanese?" I had to write a paper on micro aggressions because of it. And in my research I discovered that the saying "Takes the cake" as in the winner, is considered racist, because apparently the phrase originated when slaves would have a dancing contest, and the winner would literally get a cake. So the winning slave "takes the cake." I put in my paper that even though it was an interesting story, if you have to get a history in order to get offended by an innocuous saying, you're pretty much looking to get offended. And that even though slavery itself could be deemed racist. Not everything involving racism is inherently racist. This actually seemed like a good thing to me. They had a night where they all got together and danced and had a good time. And the winner even got themselves a cake. I think that should celebrated rather than condemned as racist. Needless to say, they didn't like my paper either.."
Based.

"I wrote a research paper on this exact subject back in 2012. It was basically about how we all need to discriminate and that it's okay to do so citing these exact same scenarios. The professor hated my paper so much she gave me a zero and told me to rewrite the paper in order to get a grade. I refused to and reported her to the lead of the English department.
Unfortunately I did get a zero because I never redid my work and I have no clue if anything happened as a result of my report. Again, this was back in 2012 during the Obama heydays around the time SJWs were picking up steam and your average normie didn't even have a clue what SJW meant. I was also a straight a student and I think I got a C in this class because most of my research papers were docked points for having Republican opinions. Back then, the world was largely unaware of the foothold that Leftists have in college and most students were only starting to realize that college was no longer about learning reason but more about being a Leftist activist."
Fucked up if true.

@thatguyoverthere @aven @coolboymew Where do I sign up?
-
@coolboymew @aven Yeah, especially when you start looking at the idea of affirming clients. Therapists can lose their license if they don't do this now. So the role becomes more about listening to the client and going with whatever they say. At that point, do they need therapy if the client knows everything?
-
"IME there are many "therapists" out there that have no business in the job like this. Unfortunately I've also had experience with bad ones too. You REALLY have to shop around and don't let them BS in sessions to figure out if your wasting time with them. Throw the heavy stuff on them in the first three sessions to make sure they can handle it AND to make sure they can help. Honestly, for a while they were making me WORSE off.
Had one that would talk about anything BUT combat experiences, and then would ask how I COULD HAVE DEESCALATED (WTF!?) . . Had another one that would constantly try to bring it back around to "abuse from childhood," (that didn't exist) sure the carnage seen overseas HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. . Had another one that would ALWAYS steer sessions to her experience being raped (WTF?) and a male that would do the same for the time he was stabbed and robbed (again, WTF?). Had another one that didn't believe in PTSD (why are you working for the VA with Veterans?). The ONLY one I ever found useful was one that used to counsil kids that were literally tortured in Egypt before he moved to the US. Guy did not believe in all the modern BS. BUT . . He was good . . he would also ask me how often I pray and how often I have sex, like those are the only two things that would fix me. . .. (maybe). ."
Wtf?
