@augustus@deadheat "Edward's youngest brother, Prince John, died at the age of 13 on 18 January 1919 after a severe epileptic seizure. Edward, who was 11 years older than John and had hardly known him, saw his death as "little more than a regrettable nuisance". He wrote to his mistress of the time that "[he had] told [her] all about that little brother, and how he was an epileptic. [John]'s been practically shut up for the last two years anyhow, so no one has ever seen him except the family, and then only once or twice a year. This poor boy had become more of an animal than anything else.""
What a thing to say. This man also seems to have not had a good upbringing so I guess it isn't so surprising.

sim"According to statistics, around a quarter of rapes in Germany are committed by foreigners, as are a third of murders. However, residents without a German passport make up around 10 percent of the total population. The way the German justice system deals with these cases is mind-boggling: A white German woman was raped by a refugee from Afghanistan in Regensburg, Bavaria. He received a relatively light sentence, but "could not be deported" because "the Taliban could pose a threat to his life". Where do you think he went on holiday after he got out of prison? Yes, he went to Afghanistan (with German taxpayers´ money)."
@Moon@animeirl@Mondobizarrro That seems to be the case in every country now. Even though we loved that localism and it attracted us to a series in the first place. They dull things down because they think we won't be able to enjoy the series if the references specific to a country or place get mentioned and go over our heads. But I enjoyed anime despite this and even despite the humour that is often in the stuff I watched that wasn't my kind of thing since I liked other things about it. It's weird that everything gets dumbed down like we can't handle those differences.
One thing that I found interesting is that it seems like the Native Americans on the reservations are getting this specific subsidy, the packaging is really plain in their boxes. I'd be interested to know if that is just how foodbanks are in the US.
A lot of our foodbanks here aren't like that, usually it is volunteered food that goes in... and it is usually supermarket food. It is canned or packaged, things that will last. You don't really get to put fresh food in there because it has to survive the distribution journey. But hopefully that can give people more money to spend on fresh foods.
It seems more like their reliance on government subsidy which reminds me of rationing food. Because they like things like spam. Even their local store sounds like a corner store here, and those don't have as much fresh vegetables or fruits in them because people aren't buying them from there in part. Like you don't expect it from them now. So they have the fizzy drinks and such.
What the Native American reservation gets is basically similar or the same as other places in not only the US but also western countries in general. So it is just weird to hear it spoken of as colonisation, when it is probably closer to being the results of rationing during the war, the industrial and agricultural revolutions. It's not great for anyone though, and we would do better to move away from eating processed foods and supporting smaller farms if we can.
@Zerglingman Yes! Both @Moon and I would apply for that misc award. Moon took over being admin of two older instances before we lost them. I used to moderate them, and now I moderate/admin SPC. It was in addition before.
@newt You can't complain when other people see you as their enemy and want you dead or it would be hypocritical.
The hypocrisy is the double standard. They don't want to be labelled but will happily label others, they don't want to be on the blocklist with other undesirables but they still support the blocklist and putting other instances on it while tarring them with the same association. And I don't think they realise this? Now that it happens to them, they realise what we have been saying for a long time and why it is divisive but not enough to decide that it shouldn't be done to any instance.
It's just... look at those other people over there! They are worse than us, why aren't you attacking them instead?

simPoast can be quite edgy and obnoxious but I don't think they are Nazis. They will just filter you by posting the most taboo shit they can think of that will offend you into blocking them for entertainment because at a certain point there isn't much else they can do if you hold a set of divisive views that already other them. It's a different approach to what I do.
You can still have reasonable conversations with quite a few of them if you don't do that.
@realcaseyrollins Haha. I suppose it depends on what you mean by rational and it probably depends on the topic at hand. I don't have specific examples off the top of my head since I only see them in my threads here and there.
