@hollo great!
Is this something to have mentioned in an Implementers section of the FEP, @silverpill ?

There's only one word for the act of indiscriminately setting off 1,000's of explosives in the midst of a civilian population: #Terrorism
And if this act was perpetrated by a state actor and with the approval of a democratic government that you helped vote in office, you might then ponder the question:
"Was this really done in my name??"
@frogzone dunno about the designer, but they are a very privacy-minded person doing everything via Tor.
As for fedi icons.. whether they get popular, find any use, all depends on.. everyone, I guess. There's no one that can authoritatively say "this is the icon". You may campaign for an icon's adoption, that's about it, no guarantees ๐
For Peertube you might suggest the icons in their issue tracker.
Nice animation added, though. ๐
"A new terror has entered the Gaza war: that it is ushering in an age of total immorality"
Hmm, interesting.
#EclipseTheia IDE is out of beta, and is a vendor-neutral truly open-source alternative to #VSCode.
@Vallaferescense @catarinac @aral
Prime example is the guy, Ronald Plasterk, who almost became Prime Minister of the Netherlands.. patented under his name the cancer medicine he didn't invent, then earned 32 million Euro when selling his company. Amsterdam Medical Center and researcher who did the work, got nothing.
Now he resigned his candidacy with a "I did nothing wrong, acted with integrity". And under hypercapitalism what he did is indeed normal, the norm. ๐ก

It is not Github that is at fault. It is #Rust projects that have a dependency on yaml-rust and - via Github Actions - see CI reporting a message from RUSTSEC. Here's that advisory:
https://rustsec.org/advisories/RUSTSEC-2024-0320.html
The advisory in turn contains a reference to a yaml-rust issue about the unmaintained status, which is why you see all the cross-links in it:
To vendor or to fork? That is the question.
Since #Rust Crates.io started giving #RUSTSEC warnings on the unmaintained status of #yaml-rust library, there's a bit of a panic, not in the least because 1,000's of crates depend on it.
This article by the maintainer of Insta snapshot testing tool gives a nice analogy to Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDO's) with considerations on whether you should fork or might vendor the lib.
Wouldn't you say that the choice of property vs type based interop is one of pragmatism vs best-practice rn?
Where the pragmatic choice is the one that will make general interop increasingly harder, not easier?
"Here's my as:Document which is really something else and you can figure that out in your if-then-else constructs based on the properties"
Esp. while still lacking good solid mechanisms/practices to convey the semantics of a msg. Except hand-wavy "It's LD".

@ddevault article is doing the rounds on HN again.. hopefully leading to more ditching of proprietary devtools.

For me, I haven't much to say, other than I hope these #BigTech messaging services die in a fire, decentralized or not. Even when we ignore their overly dominant, monopolist positions, their disregard of #Ethics, the #SurveillanceCapitalism Advertising platforms are inherently untrustworthy. #E2EE doesn't mean much either. Look e.g. at this article by @protonmail on "keylogger" injection by #Facebook, #Instagram and #Tiktok ..
#Browser news: #Dillo browser revitalised.
"Dillo is a fast and small graphical web browser", #GPL-licensed.
Project objectives:
- Lower the barrier of entry to the web.
- Support old or small machines and slow connections.
- Personal security and privacy.
- High software efficiency.
For your information: There was an interesting #CCC talk on #MLS, see:

Also have a look at #Flohmarkt by @grindhold
@aral that is weird, it is followers-only. I'll DM you.

Some really good memes passing my timeline from your end. I would boost them if they had image alt-texts for #a11y reasons, and I'm sure more other people would too. They are easily added by clicking 'Edit' after uploading the image. Keep those memes coming ๐ค
Ugh.. finally forced to use #Discord in order to discuss some buggy behavior in a #FOSS project.
It is a freaking Christmas tree ๐ #UX and somewhere something notifies me in the many ways this is possible. I will spend this day trying to find where exactly.
