@nixCraft Why is is hard to swallow? It's the expected outcome. Java, is a fast language with a huge enterprise targeting ecosystem. And a large ruthless enterprise is behind it.

Python on the other hand, is a scripted language with well known limitations like GIL. There is no enterprise behind it, and most importantly the ecosystem behind it never established to target enterprises.

@arstechnica Chromecast was the perfect device for all dumb and un-smart tvs. It's another shit Google decision.

@aral I wish they would send their high level executives to Turkish banks for a weeks collaboration. So that they could see how thing could be better. Not saying getting unsafe practices but their good practices.

@aral They are a total joke. They get credit card numbers over the phone. They can't even open an account in a timely manner. Everything is a struggle with Irish banking. And they are probably confused why Revolut is too big now.

@nixCraft Why on earth is home directory on a desktop system is a temp dir unless the system is intended to be immutable?

@nixCraft Seems like lots of bad/unlucky decisions along the way leading to much lost time. And QT with all of that migration works, seems like quite the limiting factor.

@nixCraft That's a very scummy behavior of It Security. They are even using Company email addresses sometimes. I am more inclined to click all the links shouting "this will show them!" because of this behavior

@nixCraft As a sysadmin, I had been interacting with all sorts of systems and bash/sh are a must. So there is no reason for me to put any effort into migrating.

@aral That's a good direction, however with the current housing stock , It would not help much for the buyer. Also considering the sellers mindset in Ireland, this would directly be added up on the sale price.
