Oh, today is my 8th anniversary of working on Mastodon. I was 23 when I started, finishing my last year of university, still living at my parent's place. I had no idea what I was getting myself into or that it would consume the next 8 years of my life almost completely.

We created such an amazing toy. That photo alone doesn’t do it justice. I’m going to write about it on the blog soon. Just can’t wait to get it out to people. And I hope you’ll love him as much as we do.

@grishka @samhenrigold I think sometimes there's also a mechanism where you can just press a button on your router to allow access to the device, and therefore don't need to enter a password. However I think I had to enter a password on my Brother as well.

@jackemled You mean ours specifically? Still workshopping it. Maybe Levi, as short for Leviathan, because he's such a big toy.

@BigAngBlack The logistics won't allow multiple colors. Minimum production quantity is 500. So unless we can sell 500 of each color, it's not possible.

@kava Are you comparing that to black and white or other color negative film? Or do you mean that it looks better one stop overexposed?

He’s here! The prototype, anyway. He’s big, squishy, and friend-shaped. We’ll try to make him as affordable as possible. You’ll have to wait a couple more months to get one, but we might open pre-orders relatively soon.

@mfierst Arri 650W and Arri 300W. They're halogen so a natural 3200K color temperature.

First attempt with two continuous tunsgten lights. I've used the second to accentuate the hair with a pink gel, but in hindsight, maybe should've used it for fill to reduce the contrast on the shadows.
