    Today 23 year old college students are referred to as "kids".
    We have age of consent because otherwise people would be renting out their kids on Facebook marketplace. Anyway, I don't think the question of "child" and "adult" has anything to do with age these days, its a description of dependence. The college students are dependents, so they are children despite coming from wealthy families and being well into adulthood. The whole thing is a mess. Compound that with the fact that finding a partner is almost impossible now outside of hs and college and you have a situation where the only people dating are all "kids". Theres a narrow window post-graduation where you're young enough to be a "kid" but functionally you're an adult.
    I guess my point is that people chose a decent number for "adulthood" to start but culturally that number seems to keep going up and its getting ridiculous.

    I am NOT saying that anyone should be able to marry a 13 year old btw but this how we ended up with people saying "shes only 23 you fucking sicko!"

    I was like this in high school but not in college because when I went to college I was married with a baby on the way so I couldn't afford to not care.
    The irony is that procrastination makes the anxiety worse so you're just torturing yourself if you do that.
