@mntmn i think i would enjoy that layout better than the previous. I got used to it but it's still weird sometimes.
Really cool improvements!

@mntmn but being more specific, I was thinking on they recent collaboration with a company that did a RISC-V motherboard for them. That motherboard could be done by you and being an Open Hardware motherboard you could use their reach to affect more users and also push them to become an Open Hardware-first company.
In any case, it's not your role to do that if you don't want to. But it could be an interesting combination of concepts.
@mntmn nah, even better. Just win.
Oh no!
cc @mntmn
@aral btw I know this because I've been teaching JS... if I didn't I wouldn't know about this.
These concepts are hard to find or learn about if you are just coding on JS.
@aral it's not only for functions. It's way more complex than that.
It's a lot of fun.
@aral If you want to learn more about it, it happens because `const` doesn't apply hoisting in the way you are expecting it to:

I'd probably prefer spending my time in other kinds of projects where the main quest is the most interesting one.
Bootstrapping is really important. We are making history.
But there are too many things that are still broken that we won't fix so why focus on that one and not any other. Fight against years and years of design decisions, poorly written codebases and tons of complexity.
Honestly, I don't know why am I doing this.
Maybe because I wouldn't get paid doing anything else.
I have to go back to my work in the bootstrapping for RISC-V and let me tell you a secret: I don't really care that much about bootstrapping. As many other problems in the world, this is not specially interesting.
I really just want to move on to something else.
I don't like this problem because it's too complex and makes me think I have to fix many (bad) decisions others took before me. We are paying the bills of the past.
The problem itself is boring, but it has interesting side-quests.
do you actually use wayland or just talk about it?
honest question
I want a 100% free software and hardware portable music player. Extra points if it has a podometer and a clock, but it's really secondary.
Waiting for @mntmn people to make it or hire me to make it, LOL
@deshipu @mntmn I just want it to be able to load files from usb or directly to the sd card and be able to listen to music by album.
It shouldn't be really difficult to make, but doing it in my free time is an impossible task.
Adafruit’s Music Maker FeatherWing has almost everything needed to play stuff, so we could dig in the design and replicate it but uuuugh... free time is so scarce...
So, my #FOSDEM talk is uploaded.
If you want to know about #bootstrapping #RISC-V and #Guix you might find it interesting.
@ilrihw @aral they are in the fediverse and the boards are open source @olimex :)
Remember people that I'm talking @fosdem this weekend:
https://fosdem.org/2023/schedule/event/guixriscv/
The talk is recorded, but you can always ask me questions and I'm even open for one-to-one calls if you want to interview me to death.
I'll talk about #guix #bootstrapping #gcc #riscv and some stuff more.
@alcinnz but regarding to network requests, the website will need more time to load, right?
@alcinnz thinking about performance, it should be better to include the styles in <link> tags instead of in the CSS imports, right? that way all of them would be downloaded right after the HTML file arrives (in parallel), while in the case of an \@import, the css that contains the import has to be downloaded first... that's one RTT more, isn't it?
Why am I seeing this week many docs with the \@import added? is it a good practice even with that?
@alcinnz Thank you! It looks very interesting!
Also what's your feeling about @import? doesn't that slow down the loading of CSS files?
@alcinnz can you please link me to CSS Cascade Layers thingie? I didn't know it!
Any #zig person want to collaborate with me a little to provide a zig-build-system for #guix ?
I've already done some of the work, but I have some questions with the way the compilation steps are handled. Also I need some #guix help... as it's the first time I make a build-system!
