@mntmn so 2 years ago i.MX6ULZ was $2.68 in single quantities now $4.93 for 1000 pcs :( I found myself using almost everywhere Chinese SOC and ICs only because NXP, ST, Microchip, TI either have no stock either have x10 times higher prices. We used to use Microchip MCP120/130T Reset ICs everywhere and they used to cost $0.10-12 then they rise the prices x5 and I looked for alternative and found $0.03 part from China, now Microchip prices "dropped" to $0.36 for 10K still x10 times expensive
@mntmn yes, I love how pedant Japanese companies are, Rz\Five has 2400 pages datasheet with every register and feature described in detail, not comparable to Chinese 50 pages datasheets, where you have more questions than answers when you read them :)
We are thinking for RISC-V OLinuXino OSHW SBC and look at: D1 from Allwinner and RZ\Five from Renesas.
D1 +: low cost, HDMI -: max 2GB DDR3, Linux rely on community potential use: SBC to test RISCV architecture with keyboard, display, Ethernet
RZ\Five +: well documented, Linux LTS commitment from Renesas, 2x ETH1G, 2x CAN-FD, up to 4GB DDR4 RZ\Five -: no display, expensive potential use: headless home server, FreedomBox, NextCloud, Home Assistant
