@mntmn Agreed! USB/bluetooth/analog mics are a much better option in my mind. That said, I'm an #OpenBSD user and audio/video recording is disabled at the kernel level, so it's _less_ -- though still not none! -- of an issue for me.

@foone The house I grew up in had knob-and-tube wiring and those wires were fiber-wrapped and "nothing bad happened". That said, that house also had a two-story outhouse (fortunately offset slightly.)

Vehicles moved from fiber-wrapped wiring to newer plastic-coated wiring is actually _much tastier_ to rodents. Plus, my old #SeriesLandRover with all that fiber-wrapped wiring only had one fuse, so super easy to work on.

I digress. Yes, hemp cat6 with rope oil and porcelain connectors.

@mntmn @NanoRaptor As the #MLVWM maintainer, having recently switched back to a trackball, and long looking for an open arm64 laptop to hack on, you've just bumped the MNT Reform _much_ higher up my wish list. Will have to check the state of #OpenBSD support.

Earlier today I boosted a post from @feditips regarding the load on mastodon.social, knowing full well that I am one of the straws that may one day break the mammut's back. I haven't yet found a server that feels like "me for the foreseeable future" yet.

I've considered running my own, and I have plenty of good domains in my back pocket to choose from, but I'm quite burnt out on self-hosting. (1/n)
